Question for the bakers-Icing

What kind of icing do you pipe on cupcakes? I'm going to make a vanilla bean cake and some cupcakes using the same batter. TIA!

Re: Question for the bakers-Icing

  • Lots of kinds of icing will work for piping. It can't be too soft or runny though. What flavor are you looking for? I can post a recipe if I know what flavor you're looking for!

  • I found a recipe for vanilla bean cake. What flavor do you think would work best with it? I was thinking of vanilla but maybe there is something better?

  • Usually I just use butter cream. For vanilla bean cc's, do you want to go with something less fun (vanilla) or something else - chocolate, lemony, etc?

  • Vanilla cake would pretty much go with any type of icing!

If you want vanilla, this is my favorite recipe. It's great for piping. You could swap out some of the vanilla extract for almond extract or lemon extract if you wanted to go with one of those flavors instead.

If you want chocolate, this is a good chocolate buttercream.
