I want to start taking a once-a-day multivitamin. I realized that since I am of child-bearing age that I really should be taking a multivitamin with folic acid in case of an "oopsie" (a neural tube forms during the first month of pregnancy). I figured since I'm not the poster girl for healthy, well-balanced diet either then some supplementing wouldn't hurt either.
Does anyone have any recommendations for multivitamins? There's nothing specific that I'm looking for but I noticed that One A Day Women's Prenatal has DHA which would be beneficial because I have some joint issues. I don't plan on having children for another 3 or 4 years so would it be odd to be taking a prenatal vitamin?

Re: Multivitamin
I don't think it would be odd taking a prenatal. It can't do any harm. I got a prescription for my prenatal (months before we were TTC) because I could get it filled at a local pharmacy for free.
If I were you I would call around to local pharmacies and see if they have a free prenatal prescription program. Mine didn't have any type of income guidelines or paperwork to fill out. I just brought in my prescription and every month I have free vitamins. Great way to save about $20.00 a month!
It wouldn't be odd to take a prenatal. You could go either way at this point though, since you're of child-bearing age BUT you don't intend to get pregnant in the near future.
For prenatals, I've found the Target brand to do just fine. Cheaper than One-A-Day and basically the same ingredients. The one I'm taking now I actually got for free...it was a 'Congrats on getting KU' welcoming gift from the Naval Hospital here at my first appointment.

I haven't noticed. Maybe it's because I drink about 80 oz of water a day?
I try not to sniff pee on the daily. It's hard but I resist. I think Nature made or something nature-y. Although, I know protien powder really makes my pee stink.
I must piss excellent. ::shrugs::

I love picturing this convo go down. lol
I changed my name
I've been taking a prenatal and an additional omega-3 vitamin for about a month and a half and haven't really noticed "stinky pee". I'm taking Vitafusion Prenatal Gummies and Omega-3.
OP I was in the same boat as you and decided that since we are planning on TTC in the next few years it couldn't hurt to take them now especially in case of an accident. And I choose gummies based on the fact that I need motivation to take a vitamin of normal size so I couldn't see myself being able to take a prenatal that is larger.
And I'm taking the Omega-3 in addition because of a family history of high cholesterol and Omega-3's and fish oil help to reduce cholesterol naturally.
Photo bomb, yeah!
