The Universe Really Does Seem to Hate Us Right Now

Well, the cushion we ordered for DH to take to drive to Vegas to protect him from getting a sore never came. It was backordered and it's still not here. And we had originally thought about having him sit on his wheelchair air cushion in the car if that hadn't come by now but then realized he can't. When he transfers from the chair to the car seat and vice versa how would he get the cushion underneath him? He would be sitting on it while he transfers. Even if I went with him there wouldn't be any way for me to get it under him either. He's really still healing and that's a long drive and lots of transferring from the chair to perform at clubs. So he's not going to be able to go perform in the World Series of Comedy. So he's pretty discouraged and upset. Of course, I'm feeling the same way about my lack of getting a job. Sorry to have another downer post. But any good thoughts, prayers, positive vibes, mojo, etc... would be appreciated!

I'm so sorry, H... I suppose it'd be hard to find such cushion (like the one you ordered) in a store in your city... Or maybe try Freecycle to see if anyone has one and who would be willing to lend it to your DH?

I do hope the cushion will arrive on time, though!

No, if he flew he'd have to sit on a hard seat, too. And even though it would be for a shorter length of time than driving, he'd have to get onto this hard, narrow rolling chair they put you on to go down the narrow airplane aisles. And transferring onto the plane seat over the arm rest is difficult so with a healing sore that's just not an option. His wheelchair air cushion wouldn't fit on top of an airplane seat, it's too wide. An air seat cushion is not something that you can buy in a store. It's very special order only. He would have left tomorrow morning so it hasn't come in time. This is what his wheelchair cushion looks like.

Yes, that's the one we ordered that hasn't come yet. It can't be exactly the same as what we have; it needs to be smaller and molded/shaped to fit on top of a car seat. They make ones that are specially shaped to fit in a car seat:
