First RE appt - NOT how I thought it was going to go...

So, got back from our first RE appointment, which did NOT go how I thought it was going to go.

The doctor was amazing and had looked over the tests Jon had had run and was explaining all the things that could be wrong. Jon is asking good questions, seems engaged and normal.

About 10 minutes in, he suddenly gets super pale, asks for some water and then his head rolls back, his eyes go wide open, it sounds like he's snoring and his arms get all tense.

I freaked out because I thought he was having a seizure (which caused my father's death..) but apparently he just fainted. 4 women had to get him out of the chair onto the floor and about two minutes later he woke up and obviously had no idea why he was on the floor. I don't know if the room was too warm or all the talk about testicles really freaked him out, but of all the things I thought might happen at the appointment, that was NOT one of them.

So...today I learned that if we do end up having a baby, Jon is going to need a chair, juice and possibly a mat to land on when, not IF, he faints..

  • Aww, poor Jon. I hope he feels better. And I hope the rest of your appointment went okay and you are able to come up with a good plan. ((hugs))

I know your story isn't funny, but this literally made me LOL at the computer.

In regards to the rest of the story, holy crap! Indifferent Poor Jon. Hope he is doing better and someone got the poor man a cookie or something.

it's ok, he laughed too..and the doctor was really nice about it and says it happens all the time (which Jon doesn't believe but thinks it's nice she said so anyway..). The whole thing was just crazy. H e said he ate lunch and didn't need the graham crackers they offered him and he seems fine now, but it was really freaky!

The rest of the appointment was great, I love the doctor and really feel like she's going to do an awesome job in leading us in the right direction and walking us through all the steps. I feel a lot better and more hopeful now than before the appointment, so that's a plus! :o)

He felt a little weird and said all of a sudden it just felt like everything was really dream-like and then he was out. They were supposed to do bloodwork on him, but decided maybe one fainting spell for today was enough. He feels better now though!

Thanks!! I do think it went ok and I'm feeling a little more hopeful about things. Couple more appointments and tests for Jon and we should have a clearer picture, but I think things are going to be ok :o)

Oh, good, I didn't want to sound like an insensitivebitch.

I'm glad he's doing better and that your appointment (besides the obvious) went so well. Good luck!

  • Oh no! Poor Jon. Robin passed out in church once, and it was so scary. Glad the appointment went well, though.

  • Oh my goodness! Glad he's ok. This sounds exactly like what happened to Jeremy at the appointment for my miscarriage when the Dr. removed the tissue in the office. These poor men.
  • Glad to hear it went well and there's a definite course for you guys!  Sorry Jon reacted so poorly- but hey, as long as he's alright, that is what matters.

  • Thanks, he is alright and doing fine, maybe a little embarrassed, but he'll live. My 6'5'' delicate flower apparently had a panicky moment thinking about all the procedures/possibilities and went down. He's feeling much better today though! :o)
