Tuesday randoms

Was anyone affected by this morning's fog?

What did you have for breakfast?

Re: Tuesday randoms

  • I thought the fog looked interesting, but I was not really affected by it.

I had a chewy granola bar for breakfast.

  • Mike didn't ride his bike to work because of the fog. So we got to hang out this morning before Henry woke up.

I had a strawberry Chobani yogurt, banana and coffee.

  • D&MJ - Is T feeling better?
  • The fog this morning made my drive into work a little slower but not too bad.

Breakfast was 2 high fiber blueberry waffles, a container of cherry yogurt & black tea. Not the most exciting things. LOL!

  • Missy, will you be sharing a Savannah review?  I hope so.

  • Not really affected by the fog - just used fog lights and drove a little slower.  It was harder to see Toby being a sideyard King as I pulled away.  He LOVES to just lay outside and watch over his kingdom, and it usually makes me smile when I leave.

I had scrambled egg w/onion and jalepeno and cheesy potatoes and 2 cups of coffee.

  • Fog didn't affect us. I had a bowl of Apple Jacks. I know...terrible.Embarrassed

  • No effect on us whatsoever. Today is a "Mommy and Caleb Day" and DH is working from home.

I haven't eaten yet. Didn't sound good an hour ago, but now I think I'm ready for some Kashi Autumn Wheat and a coffee refill.

I spend a lot on running clothes and shoes. When there's a sale (or closeout!) I can't help feeling like I need to stock up b/c I'll never see those items again. This is especially important (and bad) with running shoes, b/c they can be so specific, and even an update from a version 1 to a version 2 can be so different and not as great.

  • Noah is groovin' his little diapered bottom to Adele's "Rolling in the Deep". Very cute. I am sick of the CD, but Noah loves it!

  • Fog really didn't affect me or the highway traffic from what I saw. This morning I am having a raspberry cereal bar and a raspberry fruit strip.

Cheesy potatoes for breakfast? Lucky girl! I think i need to make something like this tomorrow. Is there a recipe you used? Or just a throw together thing?

They were leftovers from my family gathering on Sunday. :-)  I just mixed a scoop into my eggs to make a big mess o' flava'.

They're the super easy king I believe - w/just frozen cubed potatoes and a bunch of cheese.  I don't have the actual recipe but I could probably find something similar.

  • Pretty much all of my Detroit peeps went to the Foo concert last night.  And I am jealous.  Dave, please come to GR again.

Oh yes - those potatoes are a staple at my family get-togethers! We normally make two pans because we are always concerned there won't be enough cheesy carbs.

  • Good morning!

    The fog didn't affect me.

My breakfast was Greek yogurt, pineapple zucchini bread, OJ, and coffee.

Yes, as long as we keep up with the inhaler.  :)

Probably?  I've never made regular zucchini bread actually.  This has crushed pineapple, plus some raisins.

I have mixed feelings on my results.  This is a recipe that my mom used to make all the time and I loved it.  I just made it for the first time, and while it turned out good, something about it just isn't quite right.  I can't figure it out.  There's nothing wrong with it, so to speak.  It looks good and tastes good.  It's just not quite my mom's bread.  So, I was a little disappointed.  I guess I just don't have her special touch.

  • I've convinced my mom to come visit this weekend to see ArtPrize.  Should be fun!  I think she'll really enjoy it.
  • That's great!  Maybe she'll help you tweak the bread too?

I wanted to have Henry's b-day party the last weekend of ArtPrize, but it didn't work.  This is the year that my family comes to GR to celebrate.  I'm sure there will still be art to be experienced the week after.

  • This kind of is Fall TV, but not really.  I'm super excited for the Ken Burns documentary on Prohibition.  I feel like I heard about it over a year ago and have been patiently waiting.

A bunch of his documentaries just popped up on our Netflix On Demand - we're currently watching Jazz.

  • the fog wasn't bad on my drive in.

I had coffee with raw milk. Oh and some trail mix at the office.

  • So, here's a snapshot of uncomfortableness:  yesterday my 70 y.o. female neighbor came over to seek my input on something.  The neighbor on the other side (the one I've shared a bit about here) called her from jail asking her to bail him out.  She wanted to know what I knew about him and his past run ins with the law, etc.

And then, as we parted, she gave me a great book to read: "Orange is the new black" is a memoir of a young woman's time in federal prison.  I'm about 1/5 of the way in, and it's pretty great.

We are also really looking forward to the documentary on Prohibition. I find that whole time period really interesting.

B and I have both come more interested in this time period thanks to Boardwalk Empire.  I wasn't familiar with the documentary.  Thanks for putting it on my radar though.

Wow, weird.  Did she bail him out?

  • I don't think she's going to.  I think bail is pretty high (she said she wasn't sure she could afford it, but he agreed to shovel her walk/rake leaves/cut grass).  The guy's wife and kid only lived next door on the weekends (and at her parents' house during the week).  She moved all of her stuff out last week.  What a sad, sad mess.

I agree! I was so sad to see they weren't coming to GR this round. I'm hoping they remedy that soon!

I'll do one in a day or so. I spent a good portion of my time in conference so I'm not sure how exciting the review will be. LOL!

That is sad. What was the name of the book again?
