Yeah, we get to go out for lunch (a fun thing for us since normally it's a 25 minute gulp down) and we get to work in our rooms from 2-4.

  • Dear Bootcamp Instructor -

I am plank retarded. They hurt worse than childbirth. I can'tcan'tcan't do them. Stop putting them in every workout.

    Sincerely,

  • Julie,

Congrats! What will you do with all your extra time?

    Dear work,

Stop recreating Mondays.. One is enough

  • Dear OMHs,

I am in a really good mood today.  I slept great yesterday, and I just have a happy, content feeling this morning.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!

    ~Positive Pants Angie

PS, the pants I'm actually wearing today used to be my fat-day pants... and I think I'm going to have to get rid of them, because they're too big!  That might be contributing to my happy feeling this morning Smile

To give you hope - I thought this too when I started them. I can now hold an upright plank for 2 minutes and a side plank (much, much harder for me!) for 30-45 seconds. My core is so much stronger because of them and because I am still a chunk-o, I get the added benefit of an arm workout since I am holding up so much weight. Big Smile  You can do it!!

I just wrote a short paper about freak shows in the 1920's and related them to reality TV in the modern day. Who said the Real Housewives wouldn't come in handy some day?

That DOES make me feel better! I keep thinking I'm just so pathetic for not being able to do them. I know part of the problem is that my right forearm is about 45% metal... so it doesn't like all the weight on it.  But hopefully it'll get better with more practice!

  • Dear OMHs,

Thank you so much for your concern yesterday.  DH had to work late last night so I thought he was going to come home in bad mood so I prepared myself for a night of homework in the bedroom alone.  When he got home he had a strawberry milkshake (my current craving) and a movie.  We put the kiddo to bed and cuddled up on the couch together and watched the movie.  First time we have done that in a while.  I've also been going to bed alone while he works but last night he didn't even turn on the computer.  He went to bed the same time I did and we got to cuddle in bed too.  It was a much better evening.  I know it won't last because he will have to work at nights but the fact that he tried last night made it amazing!

    Julie,

Well, I'm going to put together a slide show about Julius Caesar for the kids for tomorrow.  They had to read about Crassus and Pompey by themselves on Wiki and then take quizzes.  Then, we start "Spartacus"!  "I am Spartacus!"

    Haha!

I shattered my right forearm in a roller blading accident when I was 14. It just Christmas-tree'd. So I have one patched-together bone, one rod, one plate, a couple pins, and 7 screws. Really great plastic surgery (and a mostly-enclosed break) means you can hardly tell from the outside. But I have limited wrist rotation, and NO feeling on the outside of my right hand at all. My right pinky works just fine, but I can't feel it. So, like, I type with it... but it's pretty much just muscle memory. Weird, huh?

  • Dear Henry,

Thank you so much for being a good boy and sleeping in your own room last night. As adorable as you are, and as much as I love you, I need you to be able to sleep at night without a boob in your mouth.

    Love,

    Your (finally) Rested Mom

    Dear Hubby,

Thank you so much for tending to the baby last night so that I could get some sleep. It means so much.

    Love,

    Your (finally) Rested Wife

    Dear Boobs,

We're doing a good job, you two and me. Let's just get through the winter and we can all take a nice long break from dairy production.

    Love,

    The Brains of the Operation

Dear Chelsea, I feel the same way about lunges.

Dear Self, Do NOT get sick for at least two weeks.  That is an order.

Dear Lunch, I am so excited to eat you today.  See you at noon if not before.

  • Dear Chelsea,

I had the same plank experience as Leslie.  You can do it!

    Dear Self,

I think you have a longer to do list as a BM in a wedding this weekend then you did when you got married yourself.   Try to accomplish everything calmly, and without biting your nails.

I hate it when people use the boards as their personal FB type thing. We don't need a new post for everything that happens to you throughout the day, people don't care.

I had a CRAPPY run yesterday... I seriously walked a mile of the 3.1 but I still beat my first ever 5k time by 5 minutes. This is such a testament to how much faster I have gotten but I need to work on fueling my body better before runs. I was starving before I left for the run and realized while I was walking around the park hating on myself that I had only eaten 500 calories total for breakfast and lunch and burned 400 calories on the run, leaving me with a serious calorie deficit. I need to practice what I preach.

  • Dear Nestie Makeup Experts,

For aforementioned wedding, BM's are doing our own foundation and the MUA will be doing all of the colors for us.

I'm currently wearing Bareminerals foundation which I like, but it doesn't last as long as I would like..even with primer.

Any suggestions on what to wear?  I keep hearing how great MAC's is but I've never tried it.

    -Curious and hungry

I'm so glad you asked!  :) A salad trio:  spinach salad drizzled with light basalmic vinegar dressing, chicken salad, and pasta salad.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Dear Tiffany, if you go to the Beauty Board I have a sticky called "Show me your DIY makeup" where DIY makeup brides have listed their products.  Off the top of my head I think that Makeup Forever-HD is a popular one.

ETA:  Check out the List Your Faves too--that is where I see the MUFE-HD.  Also Smashbox.  Smashbox gets talked about alot too although I don't see it listed much in the DIY thread (probably because of the cost).

    Julie, Our dedicated teacher!

Thanks, Deepthi.  I don't hear that very much from some people but I at least get to hear that from my parents and my students.

    Dear Colleagues,

I don't know what we're doing for lunch but I'm excited!!!!!!

  • Thanks Stephie - Going to look now!    Also, I'm coming over for lunch. Ha ha.

  • Dear eyelash extensions,

I want you off of my eyelashes pronto!  I hate you!

    -annoyed self

    Dear Leslie,

    Your paper sounds pretty funny!

    Dear Tiffany,

I love MAC makeup, but an esthetician told me it's really bad for your skin because it's very thick and heavy because it is used for theater/stage makeup.  HTH!

  • imageTiffany618:

Thanks Stephie - Going to look now!    Also, I'm coming over for lunch. Ha ha.

I'm a huge promoter of MAC. It's one of the only ones that doesn't make my skin breakout. If you go to sephora they have quite a few brands there to pick from and you'll have someone who can match your skin tone.

  • Dear Chelsea,

I had the same problem with plank and could barely hold for 20 seconds without wanting to die when I started.  One thing my trainer showed me that helped was moving your feet out wide makes them easier and then as you get better move your feet in to make them harder.

-Girl who loves her some plank now

    Dear bilingual customer service people,

Please appear out of thin air because I need more of you and fast.

  • Dear Leslie,

I caught up on yesterday's BM and noticed your post about your DH.  It made me literally go "Ahhh".  It's really great to hear how this process has brought y'all closer together.  :)

    Dear Pinterest,

    Thanks for sucking me in!

    Dear Husband,

It was fun walking the neighborhood with you last night.  I hope we can keep it up because I really enjoyed it!

    Dear Weekend,

I'm super excited for you to be here!

I wore Smashbox Photofinish for my wedding, and absolutely loved it.  It lasted all night, and photographed really well!  Also, they have a green-tinted primer that counteracts redness, which I also love.

  • RE:  FB Status... and also a vent.

So, I know this girl that is about to have her 3rd child.  She is single, so I understand that money is not the easiest to come by, but she openly talks about the child support that she receives for the children.

Today, she goes on FB asking people for "cheap daycare/nanny recommendations".  That phrase already irks me.  As I go reading through her comments, she states that won't pay more than $25/day.  That's $125/week for FULL TIME infant care... I have NEVER heard of anything that cheap!  We pay $150/week and my child (in pre-k) only goes three days!!  People are literally trying to beat each other for their claim to the lowest priced daycare... one girl keeps saying "well, again, I only pay $85 for two kids."

Don't get me wrong, if you can find someone that you depend, have respect for and absolutely has a safe and trust worth estyablishment... then awesome.  But to me, if I'm paying $85/week (or even $25/day)... what kind of turn over do you have?  Can you retain good people?  Are you doing your due diligence in hiring people and are you paying them appropriately?  The whole thing bugs me.  I already think that they don't make enough as it is... but then throw in bargain shopping daycares?!?!

I AM ANNOYED. Bargain shopping for toilet paper is one thing.  Bargain shopping for child care is a huge no-no to me.

  • Dear Realtor,

Please get in touch with me! I emailed you Sunday night. While I know the listings we expressed interest in weren't exactly million-dollar sales for you, I was still hoping to hear back from you by now. We've been online shopping for houses for a while now ... we're finally ready to see some in person!

---Impatient potentional home-buyer who doesn't have a clue how this process works, but assumed the easiest way to do it would be to contact the realtor selling the 2 houses we're interested in.
