I'm a librarian, but I teach quite a bit and I'm always looking to improve. I don't see students but for a session or two so it's hard.

I also have a BA from Evergreen! Small world. I really liked Evergreen (and then I got my masters at UW).

Bolded statement is definitely a really good trait for teacher to have. Maybe at the end of your sessions, you could have students give feedback, anonymously. What did I do that you enjoyed? What did I do that you didn't? Is there anything you would have liked me to do instead? Were there any questions you had that I didn't answer? etc. It's easier for me to comment on things that teachers do that I like, rather than don't like. Mostly, I think if a teacher, in general at any level, takes each student as an individual, instead of lumping them into a whole, and takes an understanding approach, they will make it a pleasant experience for their students.

I LOVED Evergreen. I went to the Tacoma campus though, which is a little different. It's hard to come away as a student from Evergreen and then go into mainstream teaching and have to "grade" students and give tests. I have such a hard time. I hate grading students, I feel like I am branding them with a letter.....ugh. It's probably the hardest part of teaching so far for me.
