Okay, somewhat random, I know, but I am so sick of buying sheets that shrink and involve strenuous effort just to get the fitted sheet around the corners of the mattress! Over the past few years, I've purchased Charter Club ones from Macys, Royal Velvet from Bed Bath and Beyond, and Charisma sheets from Bloomingdales. They all have the shrinking problem. I don't mind paying more for ones that stay true to size, but so far it doesn't seem that more expensive = less shrinking.

Re: Recommend your sheets
we have a few sets of sheets from JCPenney and they are awesome (and we have not had shrinking problems). Super soft, high thread count and they are usually on some type of sale.
We have some Wamsutta ones from BBB and I actually *wish* they would shrink a bit because the fitted sheet is a bit too large for our mattress. I don't know the thread count though.
Also, the Pure Beech jersey sheets from BBB are great. They've changed them a bit since we got a set as a wedding gift 6 years ago but I'm actually going this week to buy a new set because they're on sale (or at least, were on Saturday). They are a bit stretchy like a t shirt so no worry of shrinkage.
