Re: S/O Curfews
In elementary school it was when the streetlights came on, unless it was winter, in which case I just had to be back within hollering distance when the streetlights came on (so basically on the block). Our block was the cool place to be, so I was fine with that.
I don't remember what it was in middle school.. probably 9ish? HS was 11, until I turned 18, at which point I didn't have one (I just had to tell my dad if I planned on being home by the time he woke up the next morning or not).
One funny thing was that pre-18, I had to give my dad 24h notice if I was doing something other than "gallavanting around the neighborhood." So in HS if a friend called on Monday at 8 and said "Hey, do you want to come to the mall after school tomorrow?" -- no dice. I blame this rule for my being an anal retentive planner. haha
They always had to know where I was/who I was with AND my curfew was 9 or 10 on the weeknights and 11 or midnight on the weekends with some exceptions for special events.
Once I moved away to college, they tried to keep the midnight curfew when I came back on the weekends to visit. So all of my friends from college would be hanging out and I had to excuse myself to be home by my curfew? I didn't think so. So in protest, I didn't stay one night at my parents house (except for Christmas Eve) for the entire freshman school year. I just came down for plenty of day trips. When I moved back for the summer after freshman year, I didn't have a curfew anymore!
LB 1, parents 0.
I think mine was 9 on the weeknights and 10 or 11 on the weekends, but I don't remember for sure.
Ha! I wrote my parents essays all the time to get stuff. The one I remember in particular was a five paragraph essay outlining the reasons why I should get blonde highlights.
Yep!
