Ok so I was listening to the view today while getting some housework done and Barbara kept saying "the down syndrome baby" while speaking of Sarah Palin's youngest son. It really rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it is just the teacher in me but you are always supposed to but the child before their disorder. You would think someone so worldly would know this. She should have said "the child with down syndrome" or "Trigg Sarah's son with down syndrome". Ok vent over!

Re: the view
That would bother me too. The child has a name... his down syndrome does not define who he is.
Then again, considering the source, I'm not suprised. Barbara Walters is a judgemental idiot IMO. She's almost as bad as Nancy Grace.

Once you've established the conversation is about the youngest son who has down syndrome, why would it even need to say it again? If the conversation wasn't about something related to him having down syndrome, it didn't even need to be said at all. So hopefully down syndrome at least was part of the discussion.
No it was not part of the discussion which I agree only made it worse.
