Wwyd: Lost wallet found

So we went to a wedding reception at a restaurant yesterday. I left my purse underneath the table and I think it got kicked and my wallet came out. I didn't notice it was gone til this morning and called the restaurant and it was there. It had a note taped around it saying when it had been found, where, etc. and the name of the server (who I remembered and was very sweet).

I guess it's not all that unusual a worker would do what she did (and I'm pretty sure I didn't have any cash in it to begin with), but nowadays... you never know. Do you think I should do anything nice for her? Kick her down $20 or something -- or is that overkill?

I'm glad it was returned to you. I'd probably offer 10-15 dollars. She might not take it, but I think the offer would be a nice gesture.

Or you can send her flowers at the restaurant she works at as a thank you.

I think it'd be nice to give her a little something.  Maybe a $10-20 Target gift card or something (I was going to say Starbucks but not everyone drinks coffee).

I wouldn't give cash, maybe a gift card.  I also like the flower idea.  I find it sad that this is so unexpected nowadays.  A person that does this is just doing the right thing and doesn't expect a thing in return.

She may not be allowed to accept cash or any gifts. But I think a plate of homemade cookies or some flowers would be very nice.

I was thinking giftcard too, but also didn't want to suggest Starbucks. Target is a good idea.

Definitely a note to her supervisor is in order.  I'm old enough to remember when when a cash reward was appropriate.  It can't hurt to offer.

Completely agree. My family has always given cash to the person that returned their wallet.
