Anyone watching the X-Factor?

DH and I have been watching this new show all night. It's very similar to American Idol, but anyone from the age of 13-100 can audition. Some of these people are off the wall. Let's see one man has already dropped his pants and exposed himself, another lady sounded like a goat and then this weird guy who wore tight pants and see through shirt and well was breaking dancing. Definitely a good show for some good laughs.

Although I'm not sure about Simon and Paula together again, not sure how I feel about this.

Re: Anyone watching the X-Factor?

  • We have been watching but I think it's too much like American Idol.  It's funny and there are some good ones but it's too much for me.

  • We watched it and I really enjoyed it.

Of course its similar to American Idol but I think it's better - more interesting people are auditioning, I like that they audition in front of a large audience, with music (so you get an idea of how they will be when they perform), and I think it's less cheesy than AI (less background stories about contestants that drag on for 10 minutes, although there were a few longer ones, but not as bad as AI.) Plus, no ryan seacrest. That wins a lot of points right there.

I love Simon and I love Paula and I love them together - I HATED AI last year without them - so I'm happy to seee them back.

I didn't catch the beginning of the show, so the other two judges are guest judges?

No - what makes you say that?

Cheryl Cole got fired after the LA additions IIRC but she was replaced with Nicole Scherzinger (sp) from PCD and L.A. Reid is there for the long haul.

DH told me... he obviously doesn't have his information correct either. Stick out tongue

  • We watched a few minutes - seemed pretty much like AI to me, just more nutty contestants, less cheesy backstories.

  • Personally I wasn't impressed and it reminded me of all other shows that have singing auditions.... we'll have to wait and see how it's different (besides the huge amount of cash and pepsi commercial).

  • I enjoyed it. I may have cried twice lol - for the recovering addict and the kid who was given two years to pursue music before his mom was going to make him get a "real" job.

As with AI, I can't help but think half the contestants are ringers. They can't actually think they sing well.

I LOVED when Simon asked that one girl if she was there on a dare, bc that's exactly what H and I said!

I loved how she kept saying "But I sing regularly. Regularly." I sing regularly too but that doesn't make me good!
