On the subject of Facebook's changes...
Re: On the subject of Facebook's changes...
Before I read the second article I'm putting this out there:
I'm pretty sure the government asked FB to do this to distract the world from the giant satellite that is tumbling toward us tomorrow. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2016279482_falling22.html
Good luck with that, pals.
Bahaha on the govermnent conspiracy. For what it's worth, the satelite isn't going to hit North America, they announced.
I'm kind of "Meh" about all the FB changes. Well, except for the fact that I can't seem to respond to FB messages at work any more, which is annoying.
My basic thought is this: Everyone always hates change. The first week, everyone is up in arms and going to boycott and burn their computers. And then they get used to it and can't even remember what the old FB looked like. But people enjoy bitching and hate change, but things need to evolve, so they cycle will always repeat itself.
Oh, Fox News....
"FoxNews.com is offering a widget that will allow readers to track the satellite's progress in real time."
I don't like the 1 in 3200 odds. At all.
I wonder how the conversation went. "Hey, uh, Mark - do me a solid and kinda mess up FB a little, ok? There's this satellite thing... Yeah so - how's your fantasy team?"
I'm glad my friends and family in the New World are safe from the satellite, sorry to change the subject there. But when something is so obvious, I just have to uncover the truth by making accusations unfounded on any truth or evidence. And speaking of that...
Fox News... I'm repurposing the word "widget" from here on out. "That Michelle B. is such a widget! You know, I saw her cut in front of someone at Quizznos?"
I wonder if the Twitter leak was intentional or not. Hmmm. Curious about the "listen" feature. I just started using Spotify last week. I like having free music at my fingertips. I see the group listen application more useful for recorded lectures or things more... academic/political than musical.
Or, we could all set up a time to listen to Lady Gaga's latest album together, in our own homes.
Okay, seriously now. I am unable to stop laughing at this!! Hilarious.
Regarding the Twitter leak, I've got to think that it was intentional. If I learned anything from watching West Wing, it's the power and prevelence of selective leaks.
FB designer friend just posted a streaming video of Mark Z talking change.
JULI! HA
Haha! Nice, Juli!
So, I watched some of the live feed while I was sewing. The changes are big. It seems that the ticker will allow you to see everything, and the wall will become the timeline. Through the ticker, you'll be able to see what apps your friends are using. FB and Spotify are now good friends, and I think hulu and netflicks too (I don't know for sure, the feed started getting jumpy). Something about gaming... cooking... running... new and book reading...
Sounds like it'll kind of be a record (if you choose to use the apps) of, well... everything.
That's a lot of work for them to do with this space bus coming down.
Interesting. Thanks for the update. And the humor.
Oh my! The way some of the threads here go. LOL!
I'm concerned about the "live feed" thingy on the right of FB. I'm seeing people comment on people's status that I don't even know. I have my wall blocked from anyone that isn't a friend because there have been a few stalker in my life & I don't want them seeing what I write through mutual friends. I also don't want people seeing my pictures. It bugs me enough that my MIL posts pics of Bri for the whole world to see. I guess my whole point is that I hope they do something about the privacy issues (which has always been a weak spot on FB).
I'm concerned about the same, MissyNa.
Ditto this. I noticed that right away. How is it that they can make all these changes but can't add a freakin "dislike" button on the site. Come on people come on!
The marketing/PR world is all atwitter with these big changes. My LinkedIn "top headlines" email this morning included these articles, if anyone's interested.
This one summarizes the major changes:
Facebook Changes Again: Everything You Need to Know
This one addresses how these changes will affect businesses on Facebook:
What Facebook Changes Mean for Marketers
Deeder, it looks like the "like" button is changing a bit, although there won't be a "dislike" button. See the first article above.
