8 more days.
That's all I've got.
Thank you.
Sarah.. maybe I missed it, but are you being induced, repeat csection? Either way 8 days WOW, enjoy your alone time with miss emma before lily gets here!!!
I'm having a repeat C-Section. I've been back and forth a little bit on whether to try for a VBAC or just have the repeat CS, but we decided a few months ago this is the route we'd take. It's super strange this time around to have a date in mind. Granted, she could come even earlier (
) but I seriously doubt that will happen.
I've been trying to squeeze some fun activities in with Emma before next week. I think I might take her to the cider mill alone one of these afternoons since DH seems to be dragging his feet on it. lol
I am taking from your lead and starting a separate post...
I go back and forth on the VBAC or repeat CS too, granted I am not pregnant, but I sometimes feel like I took the easy route with the CS. Mine was planned due to dd size. I didn't get to experience any type of labor. The flip side is I had the best CS experience and wouldn't mind another one..
I can't wait to hear stories on birth and recovery with a toddler at home. Hopefully I will be in the same situation in a year or so..
Take her to the cider mill, my H drags his feet all the time too, it drives me crazy. My H thinks the cider mill is the most pointless trips, but I did force him last weekend to go.
Re: ~Ritzy~
I didn't realize that you had a CS. I actually had an unplanned CS because DD was pretty good sized (almost 9lbs) and was posterior (head down, but face up). I was in labor for about 23 hours after my water broke with terrible back labor (due to her position) so ultimately I ended up with a CS. I had a pretty rough recovery (at least in my mind!) but I honestly think it had more to do with the fact that I hadn't slept for about 2 days prior (due to having contractions, being in and out of the hospital for false labor, etc.) and not eating for about as long. Those issues combined with a long labor beforehand made for a rough start to surgery to begin with. I'm really confident that this time around will be a 180 degrees different though. Everyone tells me that a scheduled CS is a lot easier to recovery from since your uterus hasn't been contracting, working, etc. If you don't think you'll mind "not having the full birth experience" of delivering vaginally, then I'd just go for a repeat CS considering you had such a great experience the first time.
I will definitely keep you updated on life with a toddler and newborn. Emma's pretty excited, so I'm hoping that means we won't have a ton of jealousy issues, but I'm sure they're bound to creep up here and there. She's already a big helper, so I plan on putting her to work with the new baby bringing diapers and blankets, etc. lol
I think I'll definitely be taking her on my own, but I don't mind. DH is usually pretty tired by the time he gets home from work, so I don't see us going any weeknights in the next week. The weekend is filling up pretty quick too, so if I want to be able to take her this year I better get on it. I seriously doubt whether I'll want to be out at a cider mill a couple weeks after surgery with a newborn. Not my idea of a good time, even with the donuts to tempt me. haha!
Yeah, after my 37 week appt and growth ultrasound it was decided that Morgan was going to be big , 9+lbs, so the doctor gave me the choice at 38 weeks if I wanted to try and deliver or schedule a CS. At 38 weeks, nothing was happening, ie no progress and I was miserable and they told me they wouldn't talk induction until 42 weeks. So I decided to just go with the scheduled CS at 39 weeks. We arrived at the hospital at 6am and by 8:05am Morgan had arrived. When they weighted her she was only 8lb 12oz, and I turned to my H and said I probably could have pushed her out.. he laughed and said this seemed so much easier.. hahah
After I hear stories like yours and others including 2 of my gf's that had the full labor experience and the emergency CS's on top of that, I am ok with my plan. But there is always that little part of me that wonders, could I have done and how bad would it have really been?! hahah
I have a co-worker that just came back from maternity leave and her dd is 2 and she says she is the most helpful little thing! Brings diapers, pacificers, blankets and anything else she thinks the baby may need, tries to help stop the baby from crying with her toys. I am sure Emma will be the same way!
The donuts are the only reason I go!! Last weekend we got some that were still warm, ohh so good!!
Emma was 8lb, 12 oz too!! How funny
How long was Morgan? Emma was 21.5 inches. Let's compare..haha!
DH and I keep going back and forth and guessing what Lily's weight will be, just because we think it's fun I guess. Everyone keeps telling me that babies usually get larger as they progress in order (like, 2nd, 3rd...etc.) but who knows. The fact that she's coming at 39 weeks as opposed to 40w1d like Emma did will affect her weight to some extent too I'm sure. It's funny they things you think about when you're getting close and just so anxious to have the baby here. Like it even matters what she weighs....lol.
For what it's worth, if I were in your shoes and they told me baby was going to be over 9lbs, I would have opted for the CS too. I didn't have a later ultrasound, but the Dr. at the hospital the day I delivered was feeling around on my stomach and said "probably going to be a good 7lbs or so". Yeah. Okay. What is the point of even doing that? Like you can even tell by feeling around on someone's stomach. What a moron. When she was born, I remember the Dr. (A different one at that point I was there for so long!) saying "she's big!" and I said "how big IS she?!" followed by "It IS a girl, right?" to DH.
Now I'm craving donuts.
Morgan was 21 inches, but I always follow that up with when we went to the doctors 4 days after she was born and she was 22 inches, so either she grew an inch in 4 days or they didn't stretch her out good enough!
It's funny how they think they can judge how big the baby is by feeling your belly, I never had anyone do it to me, but I have heard stories, like how could that even work right?
I have a feeling you will be asking if it's a girl again after your boy dream!!!!
How bizarre in regards to Morgan's length. We took Emma to the ped. once (can't remember what age) and according to their measurements she had actually shrunk. I was like "umm, can we check that again?" lol.
I think I will definitely be listening up to make sure I hear a "she" and not a "he" when the baby is born. haha!
