I asked my OB for a ped rec and he said Toledo Peds, but when I looked online for info about them, I didn't find anything that favorable. I know several ladies here like Franklin Park Peds, but does it matter what doctor? I need to have one for when I go to the hospital (obviously).
Do I have to call and meet w/them beforehand or are they always taking new patients? I feel like I'm so behind on all this stuff, getting little help from DH.
Re: Franklin Park Peds recs
Dr. Haidar is my absolute fave, and his wife Dr. Al-Ayoubi is a close second. She is technically listed as Monks pedi, but if I can get in to see Dr. H I do. I would see any of the doctors in the practice though, and I have only heard some kind of iffy things about Dr. Black.
ETA: I went to the office to scope it out and ask some questions, see about how they had their waiting room set up, learned about the office hours and what happens if I need to see a doctor after hours...things like that. I also got to meet a few of the doctors who were in the office that day.
Dr. Haider is Stella's primary ped. Dr. Al-Ayubi (or however it's spelled) saw Stella when she was in the hospital and for her 2-month shots. Definitely like both of them. She saw a third and for the life of me cannot remember her name, DH took her (for congestion) and he said she was okay as well.
I didn't meet with them beforehand, but did call with some questions I had. When you check in to TTH to deliver, they will ask you who the ped is so you will have to name one.
You will have to name a pedi, but just know that might not be the one who comes to see your LO in the hospital. The two or three days we were in the hospital the doctor we said we wanted from the practice was not the doctor who came to see Jr...in fact Dr. Al-Ayoubi came the first day and Dr. Haidar came the second day because he said he lost a bet with his wife and took her rounds that day. LOL.
I like Dr. Haider, he is my favorite, followed by Dr. Murtagh and Dr. Al-Ayoubi (Dr. Haiders wife). I've seen Dr. Brown and Dr. McBride, also both great. The one I didn't name is the one I don't like.
Honestly, you don't even have to call and tell them you want to use them, if you do they will just tell you to tell the hospital you are going with Franklin Park Peds when you arrive to have the baby, they have a doctor rounding daily so you may not get the doctor of your choice, but you will get someone from the practice. The day you come home you call them and make your first appointment with the doctor you want to see exclusively.
For the record, we started with Toledo Peds and were not happy, it went on for 9 months and switching to Frankling Park was the best decision we could have made, I could kick myself for not going with them from the beginning.
Good Luck.
Sorry I posted and ran yesterday, got busy w/work!
Awesome info ladies, thanks so much! I told DH that many of the girls here liked FPP so let's go w/them. He doesn't know. He was talking w/a few coworkers about kid stuff yesterday (guy w/a toddler and one on the way & a pg chick) so it was funny that he mentioned it was "baby day" yesterday.
Also found out our HSA will cover a breast pump so I think I'll return the one I bought a few weeks ago and just wait to buy one again. As long as it's before the end of the year, it's all good.
I believe I mentioned Dr. Black as one we like.
It is Dr. Shamy, couldn't think of her name. thanks Dream. She rubbed me the wrong way and I've talked to other people who she has rubbed the wrong way too.
Edit: oops, I called Dr. Black the wrong name, I said Dr. Brown, bwahahahaha. At least I called her by a color, LMAO
LOL ...
