Sorry I've been missing lately. I took the boys to visit my parents/sisters last week, and started my internship this week. The internship is a blast so far, and I think it will be awesome! The office is super great, and there's very little, if any, politics to be avoided. It's a super close group, and I've been welcomed with open arms. Funny enough, I'm only one of two military spouses that work there (out of about 30 people), so I get asked for my opinion/input a lot. And on top of that, I found out that I can extend my contract, 90 days at a time, for about a year. At $30/hr, I'm pumped!
On another note, I'm home today because I'm having eye issues. I've had allergies and red eyes for a couple weeks, but my contacts decided to give up the ghost yesterday, and I had to go home around noon because I was in horrible pain. DH had to drive me home and to the doctor. It was awful, and I think I'd rather go through labor again over that! It turns out my contacts just lost their shape and were scratching my eyes, so no biggie. But I'm home today, waiting on new glasses (mine broke right before we left for TN, of course), and basically blind, lol! You should see the pigeon-like head movements and squinting. It's quite debilitating losing your vision, even just a little bit and temporarily! I told DH last night that I have SO much more respect for my blind uncle (army vet had a grenade blow up in his hand)! Thank God we have the nanny, because I have no idea how I'd have been able to chase the boys around today!
Anyway, DH is having more issues at work (surprise), so I'm sure I'll be posting for some input soon, as he's looking into some options right now to go silly-vilian sometime in the next year (oy).
Re: Coming out of hiding
Welcome back! You've been busy. I can completely understand the trouble you're having with your eyes right now. I was basically blind without my glasses until I had LASIK.
I'm sure your DH has transferable skills so hopefully it won't be too much of an uproar if he does make the transition into the civilian workforce.
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?
BFP-2/25/11; 8 Wk U/S-3/25/11-No HB, measured 6.5 wks; D&C
Thanks ladies. My eyes are fine now. Only really took about 24 hours and some antibiotic drops to feel back to normal.
The nanny is awesome! We really lucked out with a super responsible, helpful, and just all around sweet girl. The boys love her (even Jonathan, mommy's shadow). I had to ask for hugs when I came home Monday, and Jeffery now asks for her when he gets up in the morning. I had to take out a calendar and show him the days of the week and when she would be here. A good learning opportunity, I guess, lol.
Anyway, she works some seriously long hours, and I know the boys aren't easy, but she's a joy to deal with. She previously worked in a daycare for 5 years, so she's really good about routine, house rules, and not a ton of TV time. She even takes them for walks around the neighborhood. She cleans dishes after herself, empties out the dishwasher without me asking, and has offered to do laundry and put dinner in for me if I have it prepared!
I know the biggest reason my going back to work has been so easy is because of her and how great she's been.
