There is a couple here who is good friends with my boss. Currently their babysitter is sitting in jail on assault charges for shaking their baby repeatedly and throwing him on the couch. Their son is 3 months old. He was airlifted to a children's hospital in Dallas and has massive injuries including blood clots behind his eyes that wil lead to scarring and loss of vision with no way to correct it, as well as massive bleeding and fluid around his brain. He is in VERY critical condition and I can't even find a way to express how I feel for them right now... heartbroken is just not enough. If you have prayers to spare, please send them to this family. I'll update everyone when I know more later.

AJ is having a lot of seizures. They are trying to get them under control with medications. They did a tap this morning as well as looking at the blood clots in his eyes. They will do a tap probably every day until Monday and then re-evaluate. If there is not enough improvement we will move forward to the next step, which is bur holes.

I will never understand how an adult could shake a defenseless and innocent baby.  No matter how frustrated I may get my instinct isn't to hurt my baby.  There is a special place in hell (and jail) for people like this.

I saw this story today and my heart just broke. I had a good cry and just hugged my baby boy. I cannot imagine what this family is going through. Prayers for all of them and that sweet baby.

Of course it's horrible for the child and family, but I have to ask if the babysitter is a teen.  She likely didn't know the permanent damage that could occur.  Not everyone is subjected to "don't shake your baby" PSAs.  Can you imagine the guilt you'd feel if, in frustration, you shook a kid, not realizing the harm it could cause, and then it's some permanent scary shits?  

I babysat a lot as a teen.  I never shook a kid, but I sure wanted to.  I didn't know what would happen if I did, but I never did.  I just have sympathy for those who don't have the skills to cope with a child who can't be quieted, but don't know the real harm that can occur from shaking.  I think that's most teens.   Not to mention, if you give a baby a small shake, they quiet, so it's some sort of positive feedback for those who don't know better.

About an hour ago our little man did have a pretty bad seizure. He is doing better now, they are looking into reevaluating his medications. Once we know a little bit more. We will let everyone know. Is about to get his feeding tube. And also get his first feeding they will be giving him small amounts and depending on how he takes it giving him larger amounts as they go along. Jennifer and I just want to say that we appreciate all prayers and appreciate everything everyone is doing and lifting us and we just appreciate everyone so much any and all prayers I can be lifted up for Austin and the rest of the family and also the family of the calendar. Again thank you all so much.

AJ just had another seizure, his uncle Justin started reading psalm 91 over him and with the last word his seizure stopped. They are upping his medicine, we are not under control yet.

You shouldn't need a PSA to know that violently shaking a baby is harmful.

I would like to say that I am very happy right now. I happened to be in with AJ when he was starting to become more awake( the medicine they give him for his seizures also is a mild sedative.) He got curious of who was being so loud and decided to open his eyes. HE OPENED HIS EYES!! This is another big step and again we still have a very long road but this is something that just made my heart of hearts leap. It is in short spurts but once they give him the next round of meds he might sedate again and be asleep for a while but this is a very good sign. Your prayers are working and the blessings are raining down on our family. Thank everyone so much and please please keep raising your voices to god for our little batman.

Also Please Say a prayer for their 4 yr old daughter A. She is going to have to deal with a lot of changes (and has). J and C will need prayers of guidance for what to tell her about baby AJ and what kind of tone will need to be set amongst other children she is around in regards to being hurt or hurting others. We don't want A to live in fear, but we want her to know whats right!

<b> Saturday </b> They will take the respirator out today because that will be most beneficial to him and they can better monitor him without it. However this does not mean that there will not be surgery. He may be reinabated in Monday, if they determine surgery is necessary.

<b> Saturday around midnight </b> They are letting me hold him right now, since he is off the respirator!! It's kind if an ordeal with all the stuff he is still hooked to, but I DONT CARE!!! Lovin havin my sweet boy in my arms again, it's the only way a Mamma can feel like she is helping him.
