I saw some pics of myself in the background of a photo.
It was bad.
I look frumpy and very mom-ish.
At one point I thought I dressed moderately cute, but recently I've become aware that I have no sense of style whatsoever, and my closet is pretty much barren of anything even remotely decent. Everything that I have that is cute has been in my closet for far too long and is starting to look dated and worn.
I need a personal shopper like NOW. I haven't bought new cute shoes in ages, all of my jeans are hemmed to the wrong lengths (most still show my buttcrack when I bend over really bad, so they're extremely low rise--hello college freshman, you're 26 now), and I have no under shirts (like tanks you wear with cardigans or for layering) that aren't wife beaters from Old Navy.
This could also be me realizing I've gained a few lbs. and none of my "cute" clothes look cute anymore. And my hair is at a very awkward length since I'm growing it out. My eyebrows need to be waxed. I need a pedicure. WTF is wrong with me?! Need. Intervention.
Re: I'm feeling very frumpy.
Every time I've seen you you look cute! I have a few decent summer tops and a couple of play date appropriate winter tops--but nothing that makes me feel like I look cute. Forget "going out" clothes--they're non-existent.
Maybe your sister should take me shopping too.
I have considered asking one of my sister's friends (she works at the Buckle and is pretty stylish...accessorizes well, layers cute things together, etc) to come help me for the day and I will pay for her to get her nails done.
Add me to this! I think you have a great style, and you never look frumpy to me.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
Which one? If you don't want to say on the board, PM me!
I think when I really try hard I look alright. But that's the problem--I have to TRY HARD. I want to be one of those girls that can just pick something random out of their closet, throw it on and look like I'm put together.
I can't accessorize worth a sh!t either. I have my nice jewelry that I always wear and that's about it. I just bought a long necklace from a premier party, but I haven't a clue which top in my closet it will look good with.
The cutest I look lately is when I wear my Nike shorts with a fitted tshirt.
YIKES.
I always think you look adorable, BUT I'll empathize with you that you're at a hard age to shop. For me, 25-28 was strange. I was definitely too old (and had too adult a body) for juniors clothing, but wasn't ready for most "misses" stores. It's like nothing in stores was cut to the right length/plunge/sillouette.
Thank goodness for wrap dresses and Banana Republic bottoms, which have allowed me to get through my 30s thus far, still wear cute tops, and somehow low professional and age-appropriate.
Since I am no longer pregnant, I can't really wear the pregnant tops. I can't fit into pre-pregnancy clothing yet. I have two maternity pants (work/dressy) that I can wear and dresses -- but most aren't BF friendly. I have been wearing tank tops and t-shirts and yoga pants. How frumpy. I look like all the sahm's in the neighborhood.
Today, I did on a nice BR shirt and my maternity pants. I also did my hair and makeup. :-)
LOL @ "all the sahm's". When your days are spent at the park, the zoo, grocery store etc. you don't really need to dress up. Although I'm sure my trips to the local Homeland would be much more successful if I wore full make up and jewelry.
I'd hate for the bag boy to think I was frumpy.
If I'm going somewhere other than my house, the park, the zoo, etc. I'd like to look cute. Yoga pants are it for me most days though.
Back atcha.
I don't fit in anything in the "misses" section, but many of the junior styles are too young looking or not appropriate for work. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll grow into the misses section either. I don't have the "womanly curves" for which many clothes are designed, and I'm not going to magically develop them. That really limits my shirt selection. Most fitted shirts that are my size in the shoulders or around the waist/ribcage are huge in the bust.
Frumpy is not a word I would ever think to describe you!
I do understand where you are coming from though. I need to go shopping but I just don't want to part with the money. I need a couple good pairs of jeans and some fall/winter tops and a couple new pairs of shoes. And, accessorize- What's that?!? I would love to go to Polished one day this week, mama could use a mani AND a pedi.
I get so frustrated when I try to find anything new right now. I want so desperately to get back to a healthier weight but every time I try to change diet or get the least bit active my milk supply drops and I just give up!
Awesome! I bet you got some cute things! I can't wait to go shopping...I need to get some money built back up before I do it since I'm about to blow quite a bit at Canton this next weekend.
