XP on Military Families
Hello all,
Hubby is enlisted Air Force, but he's applied for commissioning in the Army Medical Service Corps. The board meets in mid-October, so hopefully this time next month we'll have some good news!
I want to put together a nice intimate event to celebrate this great achievement (pending his acceptance, of course) I wanted to see if you ladies knew of any blogs or websites that have featured military commissioning celebrations or any masculine parties you've seen that you'd want to share. I follow a lot of party blogs (as I'm an event planner by profession) but the majority of those events are super girly or for kids. I need some masculine ideas, but would really love anything with a military touch as well.
TIA!
Re: XP: Need ideas for a commissioning party
That's really cute!
OP, someone's H recently commissioned, and I suggested butter cakes frosted in gold frosting, lol.
That is so cute! There is a chance based on his education and prior experience that he could be selected as an O-3, so I'll keep your idea in mind!
When my H commissioned in December he had the commissioning ceremony at the State Capitol building and I made him a cake shaped like his butter bar with gold frosting.
Dh had his commissioning ceremony and then we paid for dinner for everyone (his parents and grandparents, the OSO, the Ssgt, and my parents). It was small and intimate. Dh actually planned it all and found the place to have the ceremony and dinner. Dh even made sure that his dad or grandfather couldn't pay for the food. It was his was of saying "I'm an adult and man now" since he was just commissioned and a college graduate on the same day. (he was the baby of the family, and they have had a hard time with him being so independent).
Will he be a direct commission or have to go through OSC before being officially commissioned?
