We have a wedding to go to at the end of October. The wedding is at 5:30pm and is at a winery. I need a dress and shoes to go with it. I have an athletic build--smaller busted (B/C cup) and I don't curve in at the waist just a ton. Broad-ish shoulders. I feel like I look good in strapless/sleeveless dresses and awful in capped sleeves...I wouldn't mind a 3/4 sleeve or long sleeve as long as the dress doesn't scream that I'm in my 60s.
I don't care what color the dress is, just as long as you would wear it to a wedding (not white/ivory/silvery colors). I would like to be able to go try it on in a store, so I'll print out any suggestions I get and take it to them so a sales person can help me. I would like to keep the dress under $200.
Any takers? ![]()
ETA: I'm pretty pale, blue eyes, brownish hair, 5'3".
Re: Help me shop if you're bored!
I can't save the image or make it a clicky because I suck. But this is my vote. It's one of those classic staples, like a wrap dress, that I think would suit your figure perfectly.
If you need to redo your wardrobe, please let me live vicariously though you and come help you shop... lol But really...

Please oh please oh please oh please get this dress:

and then I can borrow, yes? Hell, I seriously might buy it and YOU can borrow to wear it to the wedding... Not kidding.
annnd... I think I like these shoes:

I like the purple, black, and the grey. IDK if you remember, but they are the same brand as the ones of mine that you loved.
I'm also a little in love with these which is strange because I usually loathe Jessica Simpson shoes:

Depending on the weather, you could do opaque black tights. And, depending on how daring you are feeling, you could even do colored tights. I'm not talking hot pink, but a deep purple or deep red could potentially be super cute, but I think I would do black shoes if you did that. AND you could find some black suede round toe pumps with a cool buckle on them or something. I'll keep looking for some of those.
Here are some tights:

As for jewelry... I wouldn't do a necklace and I would probably wear your diamond hoops that I would kill to have.

Wait wait wait....boymom, did you get some diamond hoops? Will you post a pic? That's on my someday-I'd-like-to-buy-this-list.
Here's what I think is pretty, but I do have kind of a bizarre-o taste:
http://www.modcloth.com/Modcloth/Womens/Dresses/-A-Lovely-Life-Dress I love complicated backs like this, too.
The color on this is just gorgeous, I think.

I felt kind of drawn to this one, too: http://www.modcloth.com/Modcloth/Womens/Dresses/-Title-Sequins-Dress

ETA: It sounds like you and I have a very similar body type, except I think you're probably more athletic-looking than I am.
Anyway, if it helps, I find that A-lines tend to help balance out my shoulders.
Love this one in a jewel tone for October with a cardi or scarf. (My wedding was in October last year, and it was about 75 degrees at 6pm.) It'd look great with nude or metallic pumps.

For some reason, I am in love with this dress. Not sure exactly what the purpose is, though. Is it wear-to-work? Is it wedding-appropriate?

This is out of budget, and you couldn't try it on, but I found this store the other day and really love their clothes. Probably not helpful for you, but anyway:

Thanks for giving me a shopping outlet.
Boo...I can't see it! It says that the item is no longer available.
You guys ROCK! I love them all--seriously! I plan to make a trip to the mall this week to try some on. Thank you for all of the help!
Dani, that long sleeve dress is gorgeous. I may order it just to have it--wowza. I think that would be perfect for winter...opaque tights, scandalous shoes...rar!
Mcgillicuddy--I LOVE the WHBM dress--so cute. I bet it would be perfect.
Bluekid, here are the hoops...sorry it's not a better pic. It's from ma camera phone lol! H got these for me this past Christmas. Also, the dresses are so pretty. I love modcloth. I think they'd be flattering on.
Boymom, those earrings are fanTAStic. That is just what I would have picked out for myself! Your husband did a great job.
Let us know what you end up getting, and have fun shopping!
