Anyone making any gifts for Christmas?

I will have the house to myself tomorrow so I am working on my crafts while watching football. I am making jingle bell ornaments for coworkers, Angel ornaments for the women in mine and DH's family, fabric wreaths for my friends, and a scrapbook for MIL. Just wondered if anyone else is making Christmas presents this year.

Re: Anyone making any gifts for Christmas?

  • I would love to make presents but I just don't know what to make.  I think I'll make a few sets of "day of the week" kitchen towels on my embroidery machine, but other than that I really have no clue.

  • I am!  I love making gifts, and I really dont care if the ILs hate them Stick out tongue

I can a lof of jellies/jams, etc during the summer and fall to give.

So far on my list this year, Im making a super hero cape, a cookbook with favorite recipes, some rice hot&cold packs, and some ornaments.

I really need to go ahead and start on them!

  • Sometimes my extended family does a name draw and instead of purchasing the gifts we make them. It is harder for some than others, but that way you remember who gave you what instead of forgeting in 2 months!

  • I am attempting to make a cookbook for my mother. I am in the process of typing up recipes that have been past down through my family. I am also trying to get some little stories from my sister and brother about their favorite memories of cooking/baking with my mom and some pictures of them baking cookies and such with my nieces and nephew, pictures of my siblings and I baking with her when we were kids and pictures of my Nan baking. If I can get everything ready in time, I'm going to send it in to a company that makes picture books and things and get it printed like a real cookbook. If I don't have it done it will end up being a mother's day gift for her.

In the past I've done things like put all the dry ingredients for cookies or cake or scones in a jar, put some pretty cloth over the lid and printed a label with what it is and how to make it.

  • For Halloween, I used novelty fabric and Wonder Under to embellish a couple of hoody jackets for my toddler niece and nephew (nick-names on back, design on front); turned out very cute.  For Christmas, I've made jellies/preserves from this year's garden and a giant batch of limoncello.  That's all so far -- I need to get moving!

  • I've been crocheting since I was about 9, so for the past couple of years I've been making blankets for family members. This year I'm going to make one for my grandmother. They take a long time to make, so I can only do one per Christmas and I'll start making it in the next couple of weeks.
