What yarn do you use?

I have been using Caron Simply Soft yarn when making hats for babies/ kids.  I love the softness of it.  I have also tried Red Heart and that just seems so stiff.

What brand / type do you use?

I did check the FAQ for sites to order on-line but my other question is do you order on-line or buy in the store?

Thanks so much ladies!

Re: What yarn do you use?

  • I use the Simply Soft too. I love it and haven't found another yet that I like as much.

I'm interested to see the replies.

  • I've been using the Simply Soft because I had it from another project. It's soft and easy to wash.
    Mom to:
Miles (6 year old Maine C00n mix), Boots (5 year old Lab mix), Darla (4 year old GSD/Collie mix), Frankie (1.5 year old DSH mix), Peanut (15 months old - 09/11), and Bean (arriving Feb 2013).
  • OP- I live in York too. Have you found any LYS? I've been to Hobby Lobby and Hancock Fabrics. Both have similar selections to those of AC Moore and Michaels, so not really worth the drive unless you're also looking for other things. I'd love to find a LYS in this general area, even if I have to go a little bit out of the county.

  • I'm a big fan of KnitPicks.com and get most of my yarn from their website.  I like "comfy" for baby things.

  • I actively trying as many different types as I can find.  We have a LYS and they stock Cascade 220 in every color imagineable.  It's a very good, classic wool yarn. I'm currently making a sweater out of Noro Kureyon and Cash Iroha.  But have tons of yarn waiting for me...

I suppose I've made it a mission in life to  try as many as possible!

    I've ordered from KnitPicks.com, yarn.com, Yarnmarket.com and a couple of others.

  • Simply soft is a great acrylic yarn for baby stuff.

I like cotton ease (50% cotton/50% acrylic) and vanna's choice baby by lion brand.  You can find this at most chain craft stores (Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, etc), or online at lionbrand.com

I just got my first experience with Knitpicks "comfy fingering" this weekend, and I'm in love!  SO SOFT and it's working up beautifully (even though I'm only 8 rows in).
