Q re: FB privacy settings

Okay, so I try to stay on top of my facebook privacy settings since sometimes as they change and update the site your settings can change (well, this has never happened to me, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry, ha.)

so last night I was confirming my privacy settings and boo, I do not like the new way of setting your privacy!  I used to have mine set so only friends could see pictures of me, only friends could see my photos, etc. I can't figure out how to do that here. (it's specifically the pictures I'm concerned about.)  I just don't want people to be able to see pictures that I'm tagged in - I get that if someone posts a picture of me in one of their albums, that picture is subject to their privacy settings.  I just want to make sure no one can click my name and see photos that I'm tagged in.

Do you know what I mean?  I have everything set to friends only, and some stuff more limited than that, so am I all good then?   I  just think they eliminated some options in terms of controlling your privacy (presumably bc now you can control the privacy for every individual post.)

Re: Q re: FB privacy settings

  • I can't help you there, but I really don't like how when Facebook rolls out a new update accessing privacy settings in general seems difficult.  I swear, my privacy settings become less private and that frustrates me.  If anything, I think that when Facebook rolls out a new update, your privacy settings should be upped rather than reduced.  That way people can decide on their own terms to share more information.

    Rant over.

  • Yea Facebook has really annoying me lately even before this new layout.

Anyway, I think you can change the settings in Privacy Settings --> How Tags Work.  I think you can prevent images then?  You can set it to Friends or whatever setting you want and that should limit who can see what?

I think this will just require you to approve or deny any tagging someone does of you in pictures.

Nope... this is the setting I have.  There is another area where you can approve, etc but if you select Friends, then Friends can only view things that are you tagged in.  I know I can be tagged in a picture, not have to approve it and also not allow anyone that isn't my friend to see it.
