Irritated husband

I will preface this by saying that DH is normally the most supportive husband of a crafty wife. Really, he is. He even says "You could make that better for cheaper." a lot of the time. He also really likes the furniture that I refinish, especially since now we are trying to get rid of our college crap furniture and get some more mature furniture that's our style.

So. That being said, this last weekend was Junk Jaunt, which is like one massive, 300 mile rummage sale. There were 60 venders in our town, and probably 80 in the next town over, and all over the loop that the map takes. I hit the two towns and spent only $205. I did buy some little things for DD (found lots of the Little People toys that she looooves), and a couple smaller things, but easily all but $20 was furniture. My garage is FULL! I got a dining room table, two chairs, a medicine cabinet, two dressers (one is OLD, the other is just a small little dresser to be used in the mudroom for hats/gloves/so on), an old schooldesk from one of the country schools that closed out here, an old cool-looking window, a small bench to be used as an bedside table in DD's room, a really cool old bench for our mudroom, and an end table for our living room that I found on the side of the road for free. I got done on Saturday and Josh told me "NO MORE!" lol This stuff will keep me busy until next year's Junk Jaunt though! :D

ETA: Pic. This was at the end of the first day, before several items. The bed of the pickup is full too. We totally looked like hillbillies, with so many of us packed into DH's old pickup and all the crappy looking furniture. lol

  • Wow, that's quite a haul. Next time he complains, tell him you'll use this stuff as firewood and you can go spend thousands on brand new stuff.

Exactly! I want a new living room set, and I'm not going to go cheap, so I'm trying to save up in other places! lol

  • It looks like you got a lot of great projects. What a cool event. And perfect timing, now that you will have a new home to go with all of your new furniture!

  • That sounds awesome! I wish we had something like that around here.
