I am never planting petunias again. My yard gets too much sun and it gets too hot for those blasted plants during the summer. I keep trying to plant them in the hopes that things will be different. But, no. Petunias and my yard do not mix.
So, I can't be the only one. Who else has a plant that simply doesn't perform well for them no matter how much everyone else raves about them?

MIL is in Alabama and she says petunias are a "winter" flower down there. lol
Stella day lillies. They just look crappy all summer long!
have had no luck with mums this year, they all died within days.
also hit or miss with begonias, they burn up in the sun, but hardly grow in the shade. yet they are in landscaping all over town and look amazing.

Really? My geraniums always do well.
Sugr - I can believe it about the petunias. My neighbor has a yard full of petunias, but her yard gets afternoon shade whereas mine gets full afternoon sun. I envy her yard. On the flip side, she's tried to plant vincas, but gets too much shade for them to grow as well as mine. LOL
Clematis. My neighbor has a huge, gorgeous plant with giant blossoms most of the summer.
I put one in basically on the same part of my house as hers, same direction/sun hours, amended the soil, etc. After 3 years I have 3 scraggly vines.
