I am impressed

I have a friend on FB from middle school and I just realized she is a doctor in neuroscience in Amsterdam. She is just 29. Crazy.

Re: I am impressed

  • I know what you mean. I found out that a good friend of mine was named one of the top 99 most influential international professional under thirty. I was proud of her of course, but it kind of made me look back at what I've achieved in the same amount of time and it really seemed quite tiny and meaningless, hehehe.

  • A guy I went to HS with has a Harvard MBA and an MIT doctorate and started his own venture capital company. At least that's what he was doing last I heard. He was 27 at the time. I could've predicted it though. He was the valedictorian and always super nerdy schoolwork-wise but popular and into sports/clubs too.
  • I feel a bit better then, I have a doctor friend and then everyone else is working on music doctorates, go music majors :)

  • Heh.  You need to have graduated from my underachiever high school, where only one person has a PhD (and I think that's the first person from our area to have done that in well over a decade) and there's one lawyer.  Of everyone else, I'm one of the more successful, and that's AFTER being unemployed for nearly 4 years. ;)
