Which otterbox should I get?

I have an iPhone 4 and a silicone sleeve for protection. I'm looking at getting an otterbox because my girls like to play with it sometimes and, with my 18m old, I'm terrified she's going to throw it across the room sometimes. My DH has a defender and it's so bulky. But I like it's ruggedness. Does anyone have one of the other models you can give me a review? TiA!

Re: Which otterbox should I get?

  • I have a blackberry but I use an otterbox for it, the defender series. My last blackberry was run over by a truck and still worked, the case didn't even break. When I bought my new blackberry I had to buy a new otterbox and they've made some improvements to the new ones that I really like. IE the screen protector is no longer a separate piece of plastic

  • My H uses the defender and when he dropped his phone from the office desk to the floor it shattered his screen. :/  It was an iPhone 4.

Apple told me that any case will protect your phone from minor bumps/drops but a case can't protect it just b/c it's huge and bulky. If it falls just right the screen is going to shatter.

  • My response may be too late, but I have a Commuter Otterbox for my iPhone and it's been great. I feel like the phone is protected well and it's not too bulky. I only let DD hold my phone to play certain apps when I am sitting with her. I'm not too afraid she will throw it. She normally has a death grip on it and doesn't want to let go. :)

  • I have the defender.  I'd love to have no case but I already shattered 1 screen that way so I'm sticking with a bulky case from now on.
