Re: Clicky: Adopting
we are considering/will consider it (alone or in addition to procreating)
h and i reeeeeeeealllllly want a little girl. if we have 2 boys naturally, we will seriously consider adopting a girl for our 3rd.. FIL is very against this idea, and says the baby won't be "ours"....my parents are iffy about it, but are accepting.
h and i aren't sure how *important* it is to have a girl after our 2nd child. if we still decide that it's important, and we are unfulfilled with two boys, we will likely adopt a girl.
h wants to have 3 boys naturally before adopting a girl, but i told him if he wants a third naturally, HE can be pregnant for the 3rd.
i know of at least 4 moms my-aged that have 3 kids of the same sex. i know of even more moms that are my "moms age" that have 3+ of the same sex (including a girl i went to school with that had 8 sisters, no brothers).

I have a good friend who just announced via FB tonight that baby #6 is a girl. #1 is a girl, #2-#5 are boys.
I also had a friend in college who was the oldest of 10. The first 9 were boys. Can you imagine that poor girl when she starts dating? "Hey, wanna come home to meet my parents and my nine older brothers?"

I voted not considering/plan on having biological kids.
Currently we are not considering adoption. I would rather not adopt because of the costs associated with it and the emotional roller coaster it can sometimes be. It really scares me that we might not be able to have biological children (we haven't tried yet, so we don't know one way or the other). I'm also afraid that if we do have to face IF, we won't be able to adopt due to a misdemeanor under DH's record from when he was 19.

We want biological children, but I've always had a heart for adoption, whether international or domestic. H and I have talked about it, but it's never been in serious detail. We're both open to it, but it's more of a "Let's cross that bridge when we come to it" type deal.

A) doubt you'll change your mind, and
won't you just have Jennlin surrogate? ;-)
A) absolutely agree
ETA: And I think Jenn's uterus will be too tired to bear one more after 27.
you can have one of the identical twins i'm bound to have. we could be an a&e special.

ironically, H is actually very pro adopting and says he wouldn't care either way between that or biological. I'll admit it hurt my feelings a little that he thought it didn't matter, but then I guess on the other hand he's a better person than me for not seeing a difference. I personally wouldn't consider it until we couldn't have kids naturally. I would consider adoption before IVF though because I think IVF is more 'selfish' vs. putting that money towards adopting a kid that already needs a home.
All in all, I hope it just happens naturally because of the cost/emotional roller coaster pp mentioned that is associated with adoption. I could see H wanting to adopt whether or not we have biological kids though.
