So last month, I interviewed for a job I was really interested in. (I think I posted a tale of woe about how the bus broke down and I had to walk and then take a cab and was late, blahblahblah.) She said they were moving quickly, so I would definitely hear something in the next week or so.
Three weeks passed, and I'd given up. Then I got an email from her about a week and a half ago saying that the hiring process was put on hold, but that they would know more by October, and she'd let me know what was happening. I thought, 'great!' Clearly they're still interested, otherwise, she she would have just let it go until I got the form letter, right?
Not so much - she just emailed me to say that they're going to move forward with other candidates, so good luck to me. Really? You didn't know that a week and a half ago?? I had totally moved past it until I heard from her, and now I'm just upset about it. Stupid, stupid job hunting.
I see a very (very!) large glass of wine in my future at about 5:30. Sigh.
Re: Someone pass me the wine
I'm so sorry
Can you get something out of it nonetheless and ask her for some feedback? I'm a big fan of getting some constructive criticism so maybe you can improve for next time.
Hope you find something even better really soon.
ETA And here you go:

So sorry to hear that! I definately don't like the way some companies manage their hiring process. And the HR people are people too, and I try to tell myself that....but they have to realize they are messing with people's emotions.
Good luck to you, something better is out there!
Heading out with DH for a hamburger and beer myself......applying to jobs like crazy this week. Quite a few that are really interersting.
Thanks, everyone. I'm just bummed because I'm less than thrilled at my current job, and I was really hoping this one would work out because I was really ready for a change. I hate feeling like I'm being jerked around.
And Rock, that's good advice about asking for feedback; I was planning to email her tomorrow when I stopped spouting obscenities in her general direction, so I'll include that. And Cwbykitty, I hope one of those jobs you applied for this week is the one!
Well, there was good job news in our extended family at least- my BIL finally got a job in Pittsburgh. My SIL moved there with the kids a couple of months ago to start a phD program at PITT, but he stayed in FL because he hadn't found a job.
Apparently, our oldest niece (she's 5) was wishing on dandelion fuzz every day for the last couple of weeks that her dad would get a job and be able to live with them again, so she's feeling very proud of herself right now. So cute.
And my husband thinks his interview went ok, so fingers crossed. I will take all the bad job hunting mojo in the world if it means he can find something.
Besides, I am halfway through a bottle of wine, so all is better. Cheers!
You have inspired me to have a glass of wine.
The story of your neice is one of the cutest things I have ever heard. Kids are great.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for your husband.
That's so frustrating- job interviews/ the process is the pits.
Good luck to you and your H- I'm sorry it has been taking so long, that sucks. I hope you enjoyed your bottle of wine!
Hope you enjoyed your wine...
Good luck to both you and your husband in your job hunts. I am like you, and less than happy at my job but now I don't have a choice I have to find something by the end of October. Really stinks out there. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Yeah, our nieces are pretty freaking adorable. The oldest is *such* a daddy's girl, though; this has to have been really hard on her.
Good luck with your job hunt, mfmenchi- I hope you find something quickly!
Thanks! Same to you and DH
