Help Packing for a Cabin Trip

DH and I are going to be taking a trip up north pretty soon. We're staying at resort cabin that the website says has a stocked kitchen (not food, but pots and pans, etc), TV, DVD player, CD player, gas grill, and spa tub as ammenities.  We'll be up there for three days and two nights.

What all would you pack besides clothing?  We've never done a cabin trip before.  I grew up in the Northwoods of Wis, so that always just seemed like going home to me. I'm thinking boardgames (going shopping off your recs from an earlier post), but what else?

Re: Help Packing for a Cabin Trip

  • A good book or two and booklight, craft projects, good shoes and socks for hiking around (and obviously outdoorsy clothes), camera, boardgames or puzzles, good food for slow cooked relaxing meals...

I guess that is all I can think of!

  • Be sure to bring plenty of indoor things to do in case the weather is bad. We went up to Alexandria labor day weekend and it was cold and windy. We had brought a few games, but luckily the office and puzzles and more stuff for us to do since we were expecting to spend more time outside.

  • Hand soap, dish soap, towels and kitchen gadgets outside the basics (or double check with the resort and see if they provide that stuff). We've been to resorts where the do and some where they don't.

I always like to bring my own pillows in case the resort ones are uncomfortable. Also, blankets in case they don't have enough.

Candles or air freshener for stinky cabins.

Hiking stuff, bikes, other things you want to do for fun.

I usually bring slippers of some sort because I get kind of skeeved out walking barefoot in hotels, cabins, etc.

  • Thanks ladies!  There are definitely things there that I wouldn't have thought of packing.  :)
