wwyd or wwy want

I saved all of vdub's sonogram photos, hospital bracelets, cards, and other little keepsakes and now I have tons of pictures. Do you think I should: Make a cute scapbook? Put it all in a plain album? Or just keep it all in a box? Also, do you think I should include pregnancy bump photos and shower invites and cards? Or just start with birth? How far should I go? Pregnancy to 1 year?

My mom didn't save any of that stuff for me, and I don't know if I really care or not. She has my calendar where she wrote in milestones, and photos in a plain album, but that's it. What would you prefer to have when you're older, or what do you have and wish you had instead?

  • I used to make cute scrapbooks, but now I use a regular album. I have a baby album that I LOVED looking through as a little kid. My mom just did a plain album with a pocket in the back. Anything that didn't fit on the pages was stuck in the pocket in the back for safe keeping.

  • I say put it all in a baby book. I still have mine that my mom did for me when I was a baby. It's got tons of notes in it of milestones, things I said, things I did, my hospital bracelet, a piece of my baby blanket, a goody bag from my first birthday, tons of pictures, etc. I love looking through it. It's fun to compare mine with my sister's too.

We bought a baby book from Hallmark for Evan. You can get ones that go up to a year or 5 years. We'll just do the first year for that kind of stuff. It has pages for your shower, 1st holidays, coming home from the hospital, the baby's first room, milestones, etc and also blank pages for you to put whatever you want. They have religious ones that include baby's baptism, etc and secular ones that don't include those pages.

  • To save you time, I think a regular album or baby book would be fine. I would like to see bump pictures and shower invites and all of the other stuff you mentioned. I think she'll enjoy looking back on it one day. Pregnancy-1yr seems like a good range.

  • With the cards, I did one of those pinterest projects and hole punched them all with a ribbon through them. I did one set for when we found out he was coming, one for the shower, and one for his arrival.

I think putting the rest in an album from the start of your pg on is fine. I loved having that stuff and i still have my baby album. I did the same for Michael. I just don't have the time or energy to put together a creative scrap album and I don't think he'll care. Plus I know that if I decided on that, crap would just pile up and it would never get done. When I get something to put in there now, I just grab the double sided tape, stick it in there, done.
