RFOTD

The average person watches 5 hours and 13 minutes of TV a day.

Re: RFOTD

  • Wow!

And yikes!  That sounds like an insanely high number but if I think about it there are nights where I probably watch 3.5 - 4 hours (starting with Jeopardy and through the end of prime time TV, plus maybe a little bit of evening news).  I don't think I average 5:13 a day, but I probably do still watch too much.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Some people watch morning news too.  I know if I'm home, the TVs probably on.  My number's MUCH higher when I'm not working!
  • It's probably not too far off for me sadly. I watch the morning news for an hour when I'm getting ready, I get home by 5 and generally watch TV (or it's on while doing cooking and other things) until we go to bed between 9-10.

I'll even leave it on when I'm reading sometimes.

me too!  (sometimes I will change it to a music channel though)

Yeah, I watch way more when I'm not working. I watch evening news during the school year. Also we never go to the movies, ever.
  • Wow! Where do people find the time!? I get home at 7 and bed by 9....I must have some catching up to do! I will admit, when I am home alone the tv is on constantly, I like the background noise, we don't have a docking station downstairs either =(

Dude, seriously?  What time do you go to work?!  I can't imagine going to bed just two hours after getting home.  I seem to be totally incapable of going to bed before 12:30am.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I wonder if that number has or will decrease, now that streaming media is possible, at least in areas where the majority of the population spends more time on the internet.

Ditto! She goes to work really early, I know. I think she has to be there at like 5 AM. Even when I have to get up 6 AM, I still can't go to be before 11. Of course, I have to work after work anyway.

I doubt it.  People will just stream stuff to their TVs through Hulu/Roku/Netflix and the like!

Oh right, duh, she's the baker.  I think she actually gets in earlier than 5am; I want to say she's posted about being there at 3 or 4am even.  Man, I could not live on that schedule.

  • Yeah but to sleep 2 hours after you get home is also what we can't believe. For me it's just as hard at midnight (I used to work til then) as at 9 pm. But don't you need time to unwind? With 2 hours all you could do would be eat dinner and get ready for bed I'd think.

dinner is usally done before I get home. Either crockpot or leftovers. I guess I'm so tired from work I don't have a choice. Getting ready for bed takes only a few mins. Brush teeth, wash face, change. Sometimes I fall asleep on the couch before 9!
