ISO food safe planters

I have 2 dwarf citrus trees that need to be transplanted to larger pots, but I want to make sure they are safe for the fruits to grow and for us to ingest them.  I was going to buy two large plastic planters from Target but the smell from them (toxic) made me not.

What kind of material should I look for in a pot?  Would a general ceramic clay pot be good?

Re: ISO food safe planters

  • Ceramic should be fine, especially if it's not glazed on the inside.

I've grown edibles in plastic pots & never really thought about seepage issues into the soil & whether the plants can uptake any of that, but that raises an interesting point.
