I didn't have time to make any. But I have some of the BumGenius ones that are pretty good (got them for free, won at an auction). I also have some of the Thirsties ones that work great, expensive though. And they are very thick so use more solution. 

The BumGenius ones are flannel, but a thin flannel. Also took many washes to get absorbant. The thirsties ones are a cotton velour on one side and microfleece on the other side.

ETA: I had some baby wash cloths from Target that were pretty good. But once I got the free ones, I liked them better, so splurged on the Thirsties ones.

We use the super cheap Gerber baby wash cloths that I got at BRU--8 pack for $5. No complaints about them, they work great and have held up well.

I've never bought "cloth wipes". I went to Walmart and picked up 16 face cloths for about $4. I cut them in half, thinking I'd have to stitch up the sides, but never got around to it. They are still our go to wipes when not potty training (I like the flushable ones then so I can just toss in the toilet after). We have some baby washclothes in the basket too, but I can't stand them. They never seem to get wet enough or aren't big enough to really do a good job.
