and I am wishing that I got paid for making my pups their Halloween costumes.![]()
Seriously though, no one could afford to to pay me an hourly rate for these things. I have spent some very long days on costumes that will be worn for 3 hours at most. At least they will be seen by a lot of people...last year we had 350 trick or treaters, and a plethora of parents and entourage along with them.
Good thing DH supports this annual endeavor (and good thing he has been on travel much of the time), because our family room looks like the 99 cent store and the fabric store had a baby. ![]()
We are hoping to take photos ahead of time, so that I can post them earlier in the day on Halloween this year, since we never reveal them on the Nest until the trick or treaters are gone.
We never get good photos, so we may pull out all of the old costumes for a photo session.
Re: Two weeks, two down, two to go....
Um...must I remind you of the board rules? PIP are NOT optional around here missy! We demand photos!!!!
My Valentine Bookends (2~13~13, 2~15~09)
You'll get them.....on Halloween. It's a tradition. lol
Besides, I still have two costumes and a 'set' to actually design and start on...I am guessing that it will be very close to Halloween before I finish themeverything.
So THAT'S where all the trick-or-treaters have gone! Yay! It will be a hike for us, but, I'll just tell the kids it will be worth it.
I say "nobody could pay me enough to do this" all the time. And it's the truth- I am a selfish crafter and I embrace it. I do what I want to do, because I want to do it. Anything else just feels like a chore.
Can't wait to see (via the board- LOL- I do love CA, though) what you've come up with this year!
A SET!??! I an so eager to see this! do I really have to wait till Halloween??!!
Wow, those are so cool. I think I do remember you posting this pic before.
I can't wait to see this year's. Are you allowed to divulge the theme?

If i dressed my dogs up and set up camp in the driveway, we wouldn't have any trick-or-treaters! They're kind of evil, though.
I can't wait to see what you're making!!!
I am cracking up at this description!
Have you revealed the theme this year? I've been on as often in previous years so if I missed it, I'm sorry.
DH and I were just talking about the costumes this week. The few I've seen have been so amazing that completely remembers to ask me every year what you are doing.
The only two years that I have revealed a theme were because I had the pets board vote on a category....animal, vegetable or mineral. Mineral was winning when I went to bed, but vegetable won. I loved the gargoyle idea that I had come up with for mineral, (it was that or Mt Rushmore), so I used it the following year.
Actually, they fall into the 'animal' category this year. Well, they always fall into the animal category, but you know what I mean....their costumes are actually animals, and not food, plants or stone. Or dogs.
