  • yay! I'm at home waiting for the mattresses to arrive. Kind of glad I get to be at home drinking "my" coffee (as opposed to the work coffee) on a dreary day like today.

You said you are getting a king size right?  Is this an upgrade or just a new mattress?

  • Nice work staying under budget.

We had a date night last night. The plan was to have dinner and drinks at the Green Well. When we arrived, they had no power! boo. They could only serve drinks and anything that didn't need to be cooked. So we sat at the bar near the window and had drinks and breads/spreads. Pretty awesome, still.

I was very impressed with how they handled the hungry mobs. They had Grove menus (The north side of the street is on a different power grid that didn't lose power) and were serving people drinks until tables were ready for the diners at the Grove. Once the table was ready a person would escort the diners across the street. It seemed to work out really well for them. They were able to get people to try the new restaurant. They definitely made the best out of a bad situation.

  • Des&Molly, how did you end up finding cars under budget?  Great job!

Priceline, name your own price.  I budgeted $550 for both cars (Ick!) and it came to $390.  Sucks paying so much for cars, but oh well.  It's going to be a super fun trip.

When do you leave for Hawaii?

    Sounds kinda romantic.  Smile

  • It's Friday, Friday, Friday. LOL   wohoo

  • I "won" two tickets to a college hockey game tomorrow.  I've never been to one before, so should be fun to try it out.
  • Yesterday marked one month since full classes started.  I survived!  It seems that I'm starting to settle into the rhythm of things.  I find myself saying things like "the first month was awful."  I didn't fully realize it at the time, but it was definitely a difficult adjustment.  I'm sure there are rough patches ahead, but I feel better able to handle it.

    Yay, way to go :)

I saw that on FB and it got me to "Like" downtown Muskegon.

College hockey is fun.  I've been to several UM/MSU games, had season tickets to MSU the year I attended and went to a few ND games growing up because we lived about 20 minutes from South Bend.

    Cool!

My sister saw it too.  She texted me "Going to a hockey game on Saturday?  lol"

That's kind of embarrassing, but I'll take it.  Something free to do on a Saturday night.  :)

  • My sister has a small, supposedly-non-cancerous brain tumor and now they have to figure out how to proceed. They are also moving to DC next month for her H's job, and she is in the midst of looking for one herself. :( I'm bummed that they will have to figure this out without any friends or family around.

I'm sorry she has to go through all that. Hopefully they can get it all figured out soon.

    That sounds really fun :)

  • Oh yeah... this shower that is at my house? It's tomorrow. My sister who said she'd come Friday and help me clean? Arriving at 11am tomorrow. The MIL who said she'd help me clean all day? Works till 5pm.

    Angry

So now I'm skipping my run (No) to scrub toilets, rearrange the living room, make food, scour the kitchen (oh yeah because it's being used for one of the games my sister is planning, wth?!) AND and and and get ready for a trip to DC the following day.

Oh no.  That sounds so stressful and scary.  I hope everything turns out ok!

That is NOT cool, and sounds amost exactly like everytime I host a party for someone else.  :(  Sorry that you'll miss your run.  I'm obsessed now.  I wish I could run everyday.  I would hate to miss one.

I'm going to get all dressed and ready for it; hopefully once I get things under control on the main floor I can get out for a few miles at least.

D&MJ - Glad that running is going well for you!

GRKaters - Is there a race you are training for?

Nothing official other than the 10-miler I'm running next Sunday, but I like to keep a solid base year-round.

  • So I'm doing some online shopping for some new clothes thanks to my recent windfall and came across this:

Go you! If I hadn't gotten the job I have when I did, I was planning to do law school on the other side of the state. Took the LSATs and everything. Sometimes I wonder what might have been . . .
