The Aussies are coming, the Aussies are coming!!!!

I found out last night my Aunt, Uncle, one of my cousins and his wife plus their 2 children are coming to visit in March!!!!

I'm sooooo excited!!!!  I have never met my 2nd cousins (they are 1 and 3) and haven't seen my cousin and his wife since I visited them in 2006.  my Aunt and Uncle were here for my wedding (he "married" us).

I wish my other cousin and his family were coming but they have 3 little ones and It's not exactly cheap to fly here.

SOOOO excited!!!

  • ohh! so cool - will you take some time off of work ?

Erik has family that lives in South Africa - I'd love to go see them- maybe one day we will !

  • I'm hoping they'll be here during my Spring Break but if not, I'll take time off to do stuff with them :)

  • YOU HAVE AUSTRALIAN FAMILY?!  That is the best accent in the world.  I'd totally ditch E for an Aussie... and he'd understand.  Any single guys around 40?  LOL
  • LOL - how did you  not know that?  I feel like I've talked about them a LOT!

My uncle and his wife are missionaries over there.  They moved to Perth when my cousins were around 9 and 10.  They both have complete Australian accents.  I think one of them is has a stronger accent than the other but they both do.  My Aunt and Uncle do not since their American and all.

After I graduated college I got a little bit of inheritance from my grandpa (the youngest grandchild had to be 22 and that was me).  Anyway, after I saved some etc I was talking to my cousin online and he suggested coming to visit them because when else in my life would I not have a job or anything else to do where I could come see them.

That set the plan in action.  I bought my plane tickets and headed down under for 2 months.  It was so awesome because I didn't get to grow up with my cousins and I got to know them and their wives.  We did lots of fun stuff and I even hung out with one of my college friends who was an expat there for his job for awhile.

Anyway, my Uncle and Aunt came for my wedding where my uncle officiated ( a big deal to me!).  Now my cousins all have kids and I'm super excited they are coming here!

I have no idea if they have single friends but I'm sure they do.  I wanted to marry one of them when I was there but he was already engaged, lol!

Also, roundabouts in Australia are hilariously fun when you drive on the wrong side of the car......

  • OMG, yeah, Ireland is full of roundabouts too.  Crazy stuff.  I mostly let E drive.

I'm so jealous that you went to Australia for 2 months - it's one of my dream destinations.  And I'm so happy for you that they're coming to visit!

  • So exciting- have fun with them!
