Re: speaking of orchids
Water once a week - luke warm water for a couple seconds, let it drain in the sink.
Fertilize 1 to 2 times a month with orchid food - sold at a garden store
Keep in a sunny window sill. If it has blooms on it now, those should last for up to a month. When they fade, cut them off. It will (eventually like 3-6 months) get more blooms. If it doesn't bloom you might have to fuss around with the temperatures it's getting a bit. They can go outside into indirect sun from May/June - September - I find that the natural changes in temp it gets help with flowering.
What species did you get?
One simple way to care for your orchid found here. I kill almost all plants. My sister in-law let me in on her little secret and now I can actually enjoy my orchids for more than a week!
You don't want to put it in a super hot, super sunny window. Sunlight, yes, but make sure the plant isn't getting over heated.
I like to put mine in the bathroom. The humidity is fantastic for it.
