Re: Terry Francona to leave the Red Sox.

  • Pathetic. Blaming the manager for the team's ineptitude and inability to man up and play the month of September. Typical Boston.
  • we'll take him down here in Houston!

who else should be blamed? it's his job to motivate his players and he couldn't do it.  there was no sense of urgency, no team meetings.  he's too much of a players manager and he'd been here to long to be effective anymore.  I love Tito, but it's his time to go and he knew it.   if any boss in the business world had men under him that underperformed the way our team did, they would be held accountable!

  • How about the 25 guys who completely fell apart? Putting blame on one person doesn't really cut it. But typical Boston fan to blame blame blame.

I know you don't understand, being a Rockies fan, about high expectations and the pressure of managing in a city full of Championship teams, but it takes a certain type of manager.  he is not that manager anymore.  he grew complacent.  you can't fire the whole team, that's obvious...so this is what needed to happen to change the team and for us to play the way we should have this year, next year.

you think a collapse like this should be blame free??  of course people are going to "blame blame blame".  i don't think that is particular to Boston at all.

I'm a Boston fan, and I kinda agree with this but kinda don't. At the end of the day, it's the manager's responsibility to hold the team together. What happened in September was freaking ridiculous, and I feel like the manager should've done more to hold it together.

BUT, it goes beyond the manager. I think it was time for them to part ways anyway, but I hope the org as a whole is reevaluating to see if they can find spots that can be improved upon. I think them parting ways is the tip of the iceberg.

    Typical Boston? I'm confused....

I was pretty upset to see Tito go. He can't take 100% of the blame for the team completely falling apart in September, but it seems like he was ready to go anyway. Rumor is that he wasn't thrilled with the Crawford acquisition and it seems like players like Lackey made managing the team really difficult this year. I'm worried about who we'll end up with next year, but I think that whole clubhouse needs to be shaken up a little bit before spring training in order for them to avoid this kind of collapse next year.
