I have a "raccoon" question...
Hi ladies,
earlier today my husband and I were walking on our street to go back home and made an unexpected encounter. An adorable raccoon came out from under a car and climbed up a nearby tree. I had never seen a raccoon before! Anyways, on to my question... shouldn't he be in the wilderness? Is there an "animal rescue" sort of organization that maybe can take him to the woods or something? I'm worried that he'll get run over by a car
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Re: I have a "raccoon" question...
I think there's a lot of raccoon around in certain parts of the city. I know SI has a lot of them, they pick through the garbage usually. I'm not sure what you'd do with them though.
OK, thanks for the replies ladies. I was just really surprised to see one in Brooklyn
) I won't do anything about it.

A racoon just ran in front of my car tonight and I thought of this thread! Yes, they are everywhere. They're very sneaky and pretty resourceful, so they do well in an urban enviornment.
We also have possums. One fell into my empty garbage can the other night, and got stuck. My poor husband almost had a heart attack when he went to take the garbage out in the morning - the possum was staring right at him!
Holy crap...I think I would have had a frigg'n heart attack! lol
