night terrors

Anyone have experience with this? We are going on night number 2 of no sleep in our house. It has C (and me) completely spent. He only had a 30 min nap at daycare & then woke up screaming my crying. This is not working for me...HELP!

Re: night terrors

  • DS has them every once in awhile. A couple weeks ago he had one HORRIBLE night. He would wake up every hour and scream for 20 min then stop just as suddenly as he started. It was awful.  Sad DS was better the 2nd night and by the 3rd was back to normal. Does he wake up or is he still in a state of sleep? DS is always still sleeping so there is never much we can do! From what I read if they are still sleeping the best thing to do for them is just watch and make sure they are safe. If DS was awake I think I probably would have tried everything including letting him watch tv in the middle of the night. Good Luck!!

  • I think I remember Jeana's girls going through these. She might have some advice for you. Poor kiddo! Sounds awful.

  • My bother had night terrors and the pediatrician reccomended letting him fall asleep to the TV.... it worked. He could only watch non-scary things which for my brother was a section of top gun with logs of palnes and fying... (he was obsessed with Planes and Tractors)

  • We went through this and still do occassionally around C's age.  It's so hard to calm them down.  Lots of screaming and crying, I just let her wake up, I turn on lights and talk to her to get her to wake up.  I don't know the "suggested" rules of what to do, that's all that has worked for us.  Just know that they do improve and lessen!
