ETA:  Afraid of the dark ladies... timers are your friend!   We have timers on our lamps (even when we are home) so we never have to walk into a dark house.

Yes, I have timers on a few lamps in my house.  I like not coming home to a dark house, but I also like the fact that when I'm NOT home the timers go on and off, so people don't just see a dark house and think they can break in.

If you are a scardy cat when DH is gone, what did you do before you were married?

I always lived in apartment buildings with security - on upper levels. And they were small - so I could hear everything going on in my place. I know that doesn't guarantee safety, but I did have more of a sense of security.

I think, personally, my fear is when there are many windows/doors and it's all on ground level. And it's all spread out so I wouldn't necessarily hear if someone entered the house. 

What I really need to do is stop watching Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit and CSI.

DH always comes home late on Wednesday nights and I had to give up Criminal Minds because my mind would wonder and I would freak out, especially in our old place.  I was sleeping pretty heavily one Wednesday night and I woke up all of a sudden and felt a human next to me and freaked out a bit.  I shook the body and asked "Who are you?"  DH was a little annoyed that I woke him up because apparently we had had a conversation when he came home...yeah I won't remember that. 

Hahahahaha.... you shook it?   I woulda probably leapt out of bed and took off.

I also cannot watch those kinds of shows when DH will be gone... I love them when he's home, but even for a few days before he'd leave, I wouldn't watch them.

We lived together before we were married, and before that, I had college roommates... I don't think I could ever live all by myself.  I'm too much of a pansy!

I'm not a scary movie person. To this day, I still have nightmares. Even now, when hes at work, I keep the tv on and ceiling fans on when I'm taking a shower, or cooking. and I keep my cell phone by me at all times. Yeah, you can call me a wuss/scaredy cat, but I hate being alone at home lol.

I can just picture someone doing this! DH would have looked at me like I was crazy, told me I wasn't allowed to watch scary movies anymore and just went back to bed.

I lived alone before I met DH but for some reason I have forgotten how to stay by myself and not be scared even with a giant dog, an arsenal of guns and a house alarm.

ETA: I also don't know if anyone cares but I am glad Amanda Knox is free. I think she was a victim of the crappy Italian legal system and I am glad she got her appeal while she was still young enough to move on from this and have a full life.
