we went to conklin on saturday - what i like about them is that you pay per pound instead of per bag. we just don't ever need 20-25 pounds ![]()
but they pretty much only had macouns and red delicious. the reds were very high and picked through and i never like how mealy they are anyway. i think empire apples started on sunday.
maybe i'll go back next weekend for the golden delicious and empires.
anyone else go yet? any place with lots of variety available at one time? i wish we could go to maskers or ochs, but it's a bit far given the amount of time we have on Sunday. Saturday is Yom Kippur and we have a 3:30pm birthday party in NJ on Sunday.
Re: who's gone apple picking?
I find Lawerence farms to have one of the biggest selections.. at least 5 or 6 at any given time. They also have grapes, pears, gourds and other stuff. They are up in Marlboro.
I like weeds for the atmosphere but I am not sure of their selection.
