FREE SPAY NEUTER CAR TAGS! 

Thanks to Friends of Cats & Dogs Foundation (www.fcdf.org) ; and some great people in the community, if you want one, there's no reason not to get your Spay/Neuter Tag. 

FCDF has raised money to sponsor the Alabama Spay/Neuter car tags to insure there are 1,000 pre-purchased by October 31st.  FCDF will pay for a tag for anyone that wants one but doesn't have or want to spend, the $50.00.  See the tag and read about it on:  http://www.alvma.com/  (The Alabama Veterinary Medical Association)

It is so easy to sign up and you don't even have to leave your home!  Here are the steps:
1.  Fill out the attached Power of Atty, giving Dr. T.C. Branch, of the ALVMA authority to purchase a tag for you. 
2.  Sign it and mail it, or take it to:   Dr. T.C. Branch, Oporto Animal Clinic, 6912 Oporto-Madrid Blvd S, Birmingham, AL 35206.  Or call him at:  836-5229
3.  You can have it notarized or let Dr. Branch (he's a notary).
4.  Dr. Branch will mail you a receipt, so if 1,000 are pre sold by 10/31, you get your tag.

Hurry and get yours while supplies last!  (The free ones that is!)

Getting this new tag does not change your anything about your old tag--not the expiration date, etc.  It is just a new "vanity" tag for you in support of the ALVMA's initiative to spay/neuter pets when owners cannot afford to do so, i.e, people on assistance.  It WILL greatly reduce the pet over population problem i n Alabama--135,000 euthanasias of dogs and cats in Alabama --animals euthanized for lack of a home.

so maybe i am just totally blonde....which i have no doubt of by the way, but how can i just sign up for one? regardless of the free or not option?

I have a personalized AL tag, and all you have to do is when you go get your tag renewed, tell them you want the spay/neuter tag. Generally personalized tags costs $50.00 per year more, so its not that much at all.

but don't we have to sign up by the 31st for the tags to be offered? i just wanted to sign up for one now....i won't renew again until next summer...

Kristi... can you send me an email with the form attached? Also, who should I call about this? I thought about doing a short update on the original tag story I did for the newspaper.

OOOO I see, I totally misunderstood your question, LOL. 

UGH, those dingbats up at the tag office where I get mine will probably look at me and just give me that "glazed stare look" LOL.
