silhoutte cameo vs others?

What is/are the differences between the new silhoutte cameo and the current silhouttes? tia

Re: silhoutte cameo vs others?

  • One big difference is the cutting width.  The new one cuts up to 12" (I think) where the current ones only go up to 8.5 ish.

  • I have also heard that the Cameo may not be compatable with third party software like Make the Cut and Sure Cuts a Lot.  Whether this is true I am not sure.  This is a huge deciding factor for me if I were to consider a Cameo.  The again, they mentioned they were releasing a program that would work with SVGs so maybe this is why the Cameo won't work with the third party software. The Silhouette SD is compatible with the other software.

From what Andy/Ann (created MTC), they won't know if MTC will work with the Cameo until they have one in hand.  As of now, its really looking like it will NOT because Silhouette is gonna try to sell their own software, but SD will continue to work w/ 3rd party companies.

The thing I am loving about MTC is that they are constantly improving the software, freely and frequently comunicating with their customers, a great forum and TONS of videos and tutorials.  So the software would be an important part of a decission for me (which is why I preordered a Zing).
