Happy Taco Day ( aka Tuesday Randoms )
Good Morning All!
It's national taco day. Who wants to celebrate? Chicken or Beef.
Has anyone seen the documentary "Fork over Knives"? DH & I watched it and now he wants to limit our animal protein intake and add more veggie protein. Help!! (Bangs head against wall) I should have known better than to watch this with him. All I know about veggie protein is beans and tofu. I can handle beans but I'm lost on what else to use.
Bank of America - Glad I'm still with a Credit Union. Charging to have/use Debit card unless you qualify for a premium account.
Re: Happy Taco Day ( aka Tuesday Randoms )
Mushrooms are a decent source of protein, too. When we make beef fajitas, I often sub sliced portobellos for half the meat.
I have a feeling DH will not mind celebrating this "holiday" after work.
We found a Chipotle very near our hotel.

Hmmm... we're having leftover taco salad today. Does that count?
Deeder, we try to limit meat at our house too. We're nowhere near vegetarians, but we do eat quite a few meatless meals. And I also try to use less meat when possible. For instance, in my taco salad, I use half the ground beef that I normally would, and subsitute some black beans instead.
And I don't cook with tofu. I tried it once and it was a miserable failure.
I wish the Tigers games started earlier. A midnight end on a work night isn't so good for me.
My "good" tenant still has not paid rent that was due on the first. My "bad" tenants paid a day early this month. Go figure.
This is the first time that we haven't had a tenant contact us to let us know they were going to be "late." I'm not sure how to handle this. I think I'm going to email her this afternoon to remind her, but I'm not in a super hurry because if she doesn't pay by tomorrow, she will be charged a late fee. And who can't use some extra money?
It's just really, really strange because she is normally very good about paying on time. I hope everything is ok.
Brrr. I'm freezing again.
I get to start training a new girl today. I haaaate training. It takes up so much time, I can't ever get anything done. And unfortunately it takes 8-10 weeks to train someone. Ugh.
And the worst part? No Nesting. Boo.
Thankfully she will only be training for 4 hours a day.
There are a lot of meat-free protein sources. Google vegetarian protein to get other ideas. I have not seen the movie.
Kasa, that last inning was pretty exciting. Jim woke up to watch.
I missed it. I went to bed after the end of the 8th. B stayed up to watch it though.
Willa has picture day today. School pictures are a racket.
I'm doing a group project for class. There's one person who seems to be disagreeing with everything just to make things more difficult. That's one thing when we might not see her again, but our cohort is going through the whole program together. She's not making friends...
We harvested our 2 watermellon yesterday. Today, we'll slice up the first one for snack.
My H is like that (only with me, it seems). He likes to play devil's advocate even if he doesn't agree with what he is saying. There are not many things that are more annoying than that...
This is my brother's favorite hobby since graduating from law school. I refuse to play that game. B always gets roped into it though, and then he just gets irritated.
Yum, watermelon! And you've got nearly summer-like weather this week to properly enjoy your watermelon.
Good luck with the group project. I hope things smooth out soon.
Yeah... she's trying to start debate around bullet points vs. narrative for our bios. I prefer one, but not enough to rock the already unstable boat.
I'm excited about this weather. Yay Indian summer!
Deeder - We also went mainly meatless at home in the past year. We rely on dairy (eggs and milk mainly), quinoa and beans for our protein. There are other options, like GRSP said, just google it.
I am guilty of being the devil's advocate in debates. However, I think I only do this when debates are actually happening - I don't try to make debates out of nothing.
There is a particular person here, who once every 4-6 months comes into my office like the Tanzmanian Devil with an urgent project that needs to be done right now. And there goes the rest of my day.
This turns out to be one of those days. Boooo.
I just love getting emails from Andy during the day.
"I may have re "broke" my nose playing basketball. Loooooooove you!"
Oh, no!
Oh nose!
Poor guy.
They are appropriately named.
All you can eat crack fries = fabulous idea!
Tee, hee - that made me smile. :-)
I'm becoming less phased by his injuries. A second email assured me that it wasn't as bad as before.
This week is so overwhelming. So much work to do and so little motivation. The thing that I'm finding particularly unnerving about school is that there is always more that could be done, like reading more carefully, being more caught up on outlines, being more involved with student groups, networking more, going to office hours, doing more training on research databases...
It makes it difficult to know how much is enough and more importantly, how much is enough for the grades I want to get.
Why can't I muster up the motivation to do anything I need to get done right now? I just need to start one of the million things I need to do!
Oh, and I just went to a professor's office hours and feel like I made a complete fool of myself. Gah!
Fact: AT&T is the worst company to work with ever.
Kasa, remember when I was starting my home office and the phone company stood me up... for 3 days in a row? And when they came finally, I picked up a Mexican radio station on my phone line? And then a zillion other mishaps?
I'm not trying to outdo whatever is going on with you and AT&T. You just reminded me of that month in my life, and I laughed. Maybe you did too.
Oh, yeah! I had forgotten about that.
Well, just so you know, their service has not improved. Although, I did speak with a nice guy named Ray today who, after looking up my account information, said, "Oh... you're not going to want to hear this....".
