F/U $ Issues

We had a good discussion last night and are going to work on things together.

DH has never been good with money, and I've been trying to help him learn over the years we've been together. This situation we're in certainly isn't entirely his fault. I should have jumped in sooner. Much sooner.

We got down to the root of some of the issues last night, and they centered mostly around DH's pride and not wanting to admit he needed help. As a husband he feels that he shoudl be able to provide for our family and look after things, so the fact that he wasn't able to do that devestated him. He admitted there have been a few late payments, but nothing major. Our rent, car and credit card payments (the biggest bills) have never been late and he made arrangements with companies when utilities had to be split up. We checked where we're at with all of our utilities last  night, and they are all 100% paid and on time as of the end of September. That was a big relief.

DH has agreed to review/pay bills WITH me each month for the next few months, and once we have been able to do that with consistency, we'll move things to automatic payments. I think that this way, he can really see how our budget is affected when things are paid at "inconvenient" times and what that leaves for the rest of our household budget. I certainly do set a budget, DH just has not really paid attention to it.

It's going to take some work, some hard work, but we're in this together, and that's what's most important.
