Come back to Chicago Nesties! Intro..

I just read the post about why this board is so dead. But we can make a comeback!

DH and I got married on 7/16/11 and bought our house 6/15/11. I could seriously injure the man that owned the house before us, but am learning/getting used to loving this house and making it our own.

We have one fur-baby (Cleaver) and I am VERY slowly talking DH into getting him a friend in the pet form ;)

I work straight midnights in Labor and Delivery (which gives me a lot of "free" time to, uh, procrastinate)

Now...your turn.

Re: Come back to Chicago Nesties! Intro..

  • Hi, my husband and I got married 8/6/11 and live in an apartment in Carol Stream. We are new to the Chicagoland area. We are both from northern Michigan originally.

My husband is a diesel mechanic in West Chicago and I am a nanny in Warrenville. We have a hamster named Chubby (apartments won't allow cats or dogs unfortunately).

We are talking about TTC right now. We would love to meet newlyweds in the area as we don't know very many people down here yet outside of our work places.

  • Hi!  I occasionally check the board to see if anything new is going on but its usually dead.  I live in the SW suburbs (Lockport) about 30 min from the city if there isnt any traffic.  H and I were both born and raised in the western suburbs.  I work for a manufacturer of mortuary goods and H is a cement finisher.

We have two furry babies and the only additions will ever be more fur babies.    We got married 12.01.06 in the FL keys.  We've bought our house in 03 so we've since remodeled most of it.  We had a lot of plumbing issues because of the people before us.

  • Hi,

I would love to have the board become more active.  Thanks for trying!

I live in Aurora, have been married for 5 years, and have a 2.5 year old daughter.  I'm definitely not a newlywed!  I work full time as an occupational therapist and I love my job working with kids.

I would love to hear other people out there too.

  • Married 7/9/10 and live in the suburbs (Naperville area).  No pets or kids yet, and I'm a teacher.

  • Hi all,

We got married 6/5/10, been together almost 9 years tho.  We bought our first house in February in Homer Glen, just west of Lockport (Wine enthusiast, we're neighbors!)  I'm a NICU nurse & am transitioning to dayshift next week (YAY!!)

We've been TTC officially since June with no luck yet.  It's about time we get this board going!

  • Hello!  Just recently married 9-10-11.  As part of our new beginning, we're looking for new ideas on how to organize our lives, live more efficiently and budget friendly, so that we can have everything we want in the future.  Looking forward to being apart of this board!
  • That would be great.  I love TK still because it is so active.

H and I got married 4/30/11.  We live in Bridgeport on the southside.  No kids but two cats.  H hasn't worked in a year but we are okay.

It is amazing how a hardship like this has made our relationship much stronger.

Not sure what else to share.

  • Hi all! We got married 5/1/09, we live in the city, northside in Edgewater.

We have a dog and two cats. Trying to sell our condo so we can move to a bigger place in the city, probably NW side.

No kids yet, going to start trying after the new year.

I wish we could get a happy hour group together. I know there was a book club but I think they have taken it off the boards and is through email only. I love to read but I get picky on what I want to read. I'd like to find new places for drinks and meet some new friends.

  • Hi everyone!  DH and I were married on 9/9/07 and have been together for 13 years including the 4 we have been married.  We live in Hanover Park in a condo with our 3 Daschunds.

I loved The Knot board when I was planning my wedding and was disappointed when I came over to The Nest board.  I hope the revitalization happens.  I saw someone had mentioned putting together a Facebook Group page for the Chicago ladies and I think it is a great idea.  Would love to help with that if all think it is a good idea.

  • Hi! DH and I got married on 9/10/2010 in Winterthur, Switzerland. We just moved back to the area after a year and a half in Zurich, Switzerland. Before living abroad I grew up a hour north of Milwaukee. DH is a German citizen and we met at college.

DH just accepted a job offer in downtown Chicago. We start looking for apartments on Monday/Tuesday. I will be looking at schools to finish up my degree in January. Eventually we will add a cat to our family. Hopefully an English Bulldog too but it depends on our schedule and apartment situation.

FB group would be great. We have one put together for the International Nesties board. It's secret which is nice and private.

  • Hi all!

It would be great to see some more action on here and a fb group would be great too!

DH and I live in the Southwest Suburbs.  We were married in '07.  We moved to the Chicago area a couple of years ago and bought a house last year.  It would be great to meet some other ladies from here!

  • I love the idea of doing a Facebook page!

I'm Katie and I married my husband on 2/28/2010. We moved to Chicago in August 2010 and we work in Evanston. We live in Rogers Park (we were new to the area and didn't know better lol) right now but are looking to move to Edgewater in February. Oh, and we talking about getting our first dog. I really want a maltese but we will see how that goes :)

We are right on the boarder of Rogers Park East & Edgewater. It's ok, I like being so close to the lake during the summer for the dog.

Is anyone going to start a facebook page? I'd really like to meet some married girls, none of my local friends are married and I'm not much into the single scene these days!

  • YES PLEASE, let's get the board going again!  For such a large city, I am shocked that it's so inactive.

DH and I got married 8/28/05 and now we have a fun, 2.5 year old son and a 10 year old cat.  We live right on the border of West Lakeview and Roscoe Village.

I hope to get to know some of you better!  The FB page is a great idea.

  • We were married 7/16/10 and moved to Chicago this summer.  My husband works in Evanston and remotely, so we are considering a move north for more space and convenience in the future.  We currently live in northern Lincoln Park/East Lakeview and have three lovely cats and a wonderful dog.  We love to eat local and cook from scratch, and spend a lot of time wandering in Lincoln Park with our canine baby.  Since I am underemployed right now, we try to explore the city frugally and really enjoy the time we are able to have together :)  Would love to meet others who are pet, food, and environment-friendly.
  • Hi all!  I agree TK board is/was more active than TN.  Hopefully we can improve that!

H and I were married on 10.16.10.  We rent in Lakeview and have our furbaby (Oscar).  We're not ready for to TTC yet...our first goal is buying a place.  We're originally from the Quad Cities.  H is in advertisting and I'm an engineer.  I'd love to get some get-togethers going for us!

  • Hello!

I'm Jeanna. DH and I got married on 2/25/06, and we moved back to Chicagoland almost a year ago from Charlotte, NC. We live in Sycamore, which is near DeKalb. It's really quiet here, which we like a lot. The good thing is we still make it to the city every once in awhile, and a lot of our family lives in the southwest suburbs/west suburbs.

We have one child that happens to be a cat, and his name's Mikey. He's 7 1/2, and incredibly bossy. But once you pick him up he turns in to a big baby. :)

  • Hey girls!  My name is Barb and my husband and I have been married *almost 2 years.  4-10-10.  :)

We live in Aurora currently TTC and working tons to save up!

  • Married 6/20/10. We live on the edge of edgewater and rodgers park too!

  • Hi there! I joined The Nest after we got married on 07/03/11 but I have not had a chance to really see what is on here.

    Bit about myself:

I am 23 working as a public librarian for my local library. I love my career because I really feel like I am doing a bit of good in my little part of the world. My husband and I have been married for almost 8 months now (wow! where does the time go?) but we have been friends for almost 9 years and were together for almost 5 years before we got married. We met in high school and liked each other for almost 4 years but never said anything until my senior year of high school.

Husband works as a sales associate but is trying to break into the managerial world. We both graduated from college and I am currently working on my masters degree. So between work, school, planning wedding, and trying to have a social life it's been very chaotic! :D

Hubby & I live about 15 mins south of the Wisconsin border. Town is a bit dull but it's close to family, work and school. We have no kids, and one mutt. My brother got her at a gas station when she was 6 weeks old. Some guy threw her in my brothers car and ran off. She's a wonderful dog & I absolutely love the cuddle company when the husband is working late.

Hubby & I are always looking to expand the friend pool & love to go out and just be around others! I don't have a Facebook so the best way to get ahold is to post back here or email me at lauriepudlo@yahoo.com

    Soon to be Mrs!
  • Hi ya'll!  Not sure if many people frequent the board, but thought I'd write an intro anyway.  My husband and I recently moved to Northwest Indiana (about 40 mins away), but love to hang out in Chicago and are thinking about moving closer soon.  We've been married about a year with one pup and love to explore the city.  Hope ya'll had a good weekend!

  • Hi!

I just asked to join the FB group, so hopefully that happens soon :-).

Anyways, DH and I were married 6/3/2010. I moved to Chicago in 2009 to go to school (Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Roosevelt), while he finished up his MA in piano performance and pedagogy from Bowling Green State University. He finally finished right before we got married, so instead of a honeymoon right away, we spent the week moving stuff from 4 different states back to Chicago to a new place in Wrigleyville! We since went on a HM to Costa Rica for our 1 year anniversary, and now live in Lincoln Park. We don't have any pets, but I desperately want a cat and bug DH about it on a regular basis, haha.

No human babies for us yet until I finish school (2014) and we settle down someplace more permanent. We won't know where that will be until the time comes, as it will mostly depend on where I find work, but hopefully Chicago, as we love it here!
