Oh my Gawd. Please help me. Hair crisis!

This is what I wanted my color hair to look like but a little bit more subtle.  I liked the lighter edges.  But I def wanted it to be much darker.  I even showed her this pic and said very clearly "this just darker, and more subtle."

Today I went to my BFF's hairdresser who she swore is top notch and got this done.  Umm, can I just say it looks NOTHING like this.  Holy eff the difference from my ends to my natural hair color is NIGHT AND DAY.  There is no fading.  Like, you can see a definite line from hair dye vs natural hair.  And she didn't do the foils at the exact same length so I have like a zig zag hair color going.

WHAT THE EFF DO I DO?

I have never dyed my hair so I don't know what the best plan of attack is.  I am doing my best not to freak out but OMG it's really bad.  I can't walk around like this!

Can she fade the color out if I go back to her?  Can I re-dye it dark and pretend it never happened?  What about a dark temp wash in hair color?

To top it off she gave me bangs.  I kinda already had side swept bangs but now they are short and won't tuck behind my ears :(   But right now that's the least of my worries......

Please.someone.tell me what to do!!

  • The one time I had a hair disaster I actually complained before I even left the salon.  I of course waited until the girl that did it left the building and I went off!  It was baaaad...like worst haircut and color I had ever had.  I am not one to complain but damn when you are spending that kind of money I want to feel great when I leave a salon..Not ready to cry!  So I feel your pain!

So my suggestion is to call them, speak to the owner or manager and ask to have it corrected, by someone else.  Then it's not awkward for you or her to have her try and fix it when she obviously didn't get the idea the first time.  And be sure it's no charge...at all!

  • First.  post a picture for us to see.

Second.  get a hat to hide hair.

Third.  find a new hair dresses.

Fifth.  dye hair back to natural state.

Sixth.  never dye hair in a super trendy way from a new stylist.

  • Yep. Call back & have them fix it. In the meantime, can you wear it in a ponytail?

  • just get the bottom dyed to match the top.

and sadly realize that only a top celeb hairdresser can pull off ombre hair.

  • I learned something new today, I had never heard of ombre hair! (I googled it too, for pics)

Sorry this happened to you, Kathy. Let us know what you end up doing to fix it!

For whatever reason TheNest won't let me post a photo :(

Please excuse the messy ends.  She curled my hair (like Texas beauty pageant style) and I couldn't see the harsh lines from the hair dye while at the salon.  It wasn't until I got home and did a half asss straightening job before I saw the big ol' mess that my virginal hair had become.....

If you notice, the right side of my hair has a dye line that is about chin length.  Then look to the left side of my face and the dye line (which is hard to see in this photo......but believe me, it's there) is about nose length.

Ugh.  I don't really want to call her because she is the owner and I don't know if she really knows how to fix it.  My trust level with her is a big fat ZERO.  I think I might wait until tomorrow and give my usual stylist in Orlando a call and ask what do I do.  I just don't want to keep putting chemicals on my hair.  Oh gawd, I don't want it to get worse!

Anyway, lesson learned.  Ugh.  I am so dumb sometimes.  What was I thinking.

I know, for realz.  I just wanted my hair to match Miss Macy's hair!  Ha.  But seriously, her super cute baby hair is naturally ombre from the sun :)  My old hair is just drab, and now it's multi colored drab.

    First.  Posted a pic :)

Second.  I'll dig up a hat to wear in the mean time.

Third.  I will never stray from my hairdresser in Orlando again.

Fourth.  Don't worry, we skip four in my house.  Macy likes to count 1, 2, 3, 5 too!

Fifth.  Planning on it.  Just got to break the news to Mr.Jason that it's going to cost MORE money.

Sixth.  Lesson learned.  Never, ever again.

  • I just checked with one of my bffs, who has been a stylists for a long time and mostly does haircolor. She said you should be able to do color over the bleach, possibly with a toner, to fix it. I know that doesn't solve your problem of who you should let fix it right now though.

  • Thanks Tasha!  I think I am going to give that a shot with my stylist in Orlando.  I will be back in about a week and a half and I have an appointment to fix it with him.  I just got off the phone with him and he said to rough it out until I see him.  I guess I will have a lot of ponytail days in my future.

Mine turns ugly ombre from the sun. As in, the bottoms start turning a brassy orange while the top stays normal brown. I have been trying to dye it back to normal for years. And I keep going orange. Looks like my ombre makes me cool lol

  • oh no Kathy!! Im sorry hair issues are the worst!
Your right though that is not a good ombre job an don't worry you definitely do not have to be a celeb stylist to get good results!

I recently did an ombre job on a friend it was very time consuming it needs to be a gradual change for it to look good she wanted this: it came out great! but notice the tiniest of highlightsimage
and ofcourse you can put color over bleach easy peasy!

Good luck! im sure it will look good once fixed!
