NER: Should I go to FSIL's bach party?

Yall know how much I love this couple...groan.  I'm just trying to decide if this is one of those "for the good of the family" things or not.

It starts at 6:30 Thursday night with a progressive dinner and they expect to arrive at a bar around 10:00 pm.

I will know no one other than FSIL.  FSIL and all of her friends are teachers and spend 24/7 talking about lesson plans, recalcitrant students, lousy principals, et al.

I have a helluva week lined up and I have a bad cold right now.  I usually have a night class on Thursday nights, but it's cancelled for this week, so I'll get out of class early at 5.  (Though no one other than DH knows it's cancelled and he said I could use that as an excuse if I want to.)  It's a 2 hour drive there, plus I'd have to grab the dog, so I think realistically the earliest I could make it would be 8pm.

WWYD?  Catch up with them at whichever house and head to the bar with them?  Make the night class excuse?

-------

And I'm sure you're all interested in progress ;)  Well, the short answer is I haven't heard much since quitting.  DH is there this week helping with the yard and such and he says tensions are running high.  MIL apparently got her head bit off when she made a suggestion to modify something.  DH, the ultimate mediator, called to remind me to bite my tongue at all costs.  I reminded that I'm just a wedding guest - I'll show up for the ceremony, go hang with our friends during the 5 hour intermission, then show up for the reception.  Whatever goat rope they're in is on their own.

[If you're a Friends fan, I'm so Monica in the episode of Phoebe's wedding.  Too bad about that ice sculpture out melting in the hallway...]
